The importance of rest cannot be overlooked. I believe this is why we even get breaks from studies while we are in school just to relax our heads and get refreshed. Then the more we keep working all day, the lesser the ability to keep the work going.

In Nigeria, we have five working days which are Mondays to Fridays, and then the weekends Saturdays and Sundays are for rest. But some companies would also have their working days extended till Saturday. I wonder what kind of work these workers would be doing and not get tired of it.

It could have been more interesting and motivating if they could add overtime payment, but NO! You still get your regular payment for working on weekends.

The only department I could say has to work all days of the week is the agricultural sector. This is because those who deal with livestock would need to attend to them all day. But that shouldn’t take them a lot of stress of working around the clock from 8 am to 6 pm. Just in the morning and the evening time. Then they can have enough rest.

Work shifts are also practiced, where some workers get a day or two off and then some other workers take over. With these, there would be ease of the workload and also time to relax equally.

### Extra Holidays?

I feel Fridays should be added to the weekend holidays. Four working days is enough. Friday on a normal doesn’t sound like a working day since it's a day when Muslims get to pray every week and then workers get to close early. Fridays and Saturdays could be centred towards resting for workers and then Sundays would be for preparing against the next week.

But the way we have Saturday and Sunday as breaks alone, I feel it’s only a day off. They have to rest and then the other day to prepare for work again.

The only time you see workers vacate on weekdays is when a public holiday falls on that day of the week. Then the government declares a two-day break, the festive day, and the day after. Work resumes immediately after. No time to spend with family and friends.

If I could have the power to grant holidays for festivals then I would be giving the week off for festivals and two days for other public holidays. Since these festivals happen once a year and not something occasionally.

### Per-time jobs and payments

Another suggestion I would love to implement is the part-time job offer. A system where workers could decide by themselves when to work and when to rest. At the end of it, they get paid based on the calculation of hours they worked. So this won’t become mandatory for everyone to get themselves overworked.

If you have the power to work full time then that's good, and those who can’t can opt for other options. And those who decide to even use their holidays to work, which could be counted as overtime will also get paid for it. This is what I could call a fair system of working.

In conclusion, holidays are more important, and these are the only times workers get to rest. I feel there should be more holidays and rest time for workers to yield maximum productivity.
