Life is all about growth. I can’t write about not knowing how to walk as a kid from first to now because we all know it is a mutual feeling. But there is this one thing I see dear to me and I will always thank Allah for how far I have come from doing it. My writing journey is something I will be talking a bit about.

**How I started.**

In senior high school was when this journey started. A zeal I took and didn’t know what came over me. I then accepted it with many challenges. I had many things on my plate to write about but I had a deficiency in words. I never had good English and perfect grammar to make my readers understand what I meant. So playing with words in my writeups at first was something I couldn’t manage and was a difficulty.

When I started. Not only was I not able to spell words correctly, my articles and poem sometimes lacked ideas. The ideas shared will sometimes be made up of several things. The ideas kept coming but as a beginner, I never knew each new idea goes with a new poem or on a new space so I was not static to what my poem will be saying. This was hell for me. imagine a cook who can’t even see if his or her food tastes nice or not. can people eat it and even enjoy it? that was me when I started.

**How did I grow?**

So in those days, I had a dear angel called Phirdaus. Phirdaus was already of good speech and words. A woman with a deep understanding of writing and what readers might look out for. She was my editor I must say. She told me, “Writing is about bringing the ideas out. Yours are unique. Bring them out I will help you in modeling your style of writing.” This was how it started.

Each day I wrote something, she was always available to me. she was like a twin. She will always be ready to read my work. we did this for a term in school. So how she did it was, anytime I write something, she reads and makes the correction on them. then I will find a unique book and then write the corrected poem or article in them. when I’m free, I read them and see my growth.

For a year, that’s moving from year 1 to year 2, there was a vast difference between my works. I developed not only in spelling words correctly it is also in making clear and great sentences my readers will love. when she helped me in mastering this act, creating suspense in my readers was something I played with those. I learned to hide things from them and gave them the edge to wanting to read more. This was a gift Allah helped me with through Phirdaus.

**Now, how do I see my writing?**

Reading is a skill, not every writer has. I stand to be corrected but I sometimes find it difficult to even read some of my writeups. When I take a look at my first articles before Phirdaus started editing them, to when Phirdaus started till now. There is a big gap between each. I see a big progress I am most proud of. I grew to see beyond where I started. Those days I used people to access my writeups. For them to correct them and other stuff., but today, I use Grammarly checkers to check my words, and sentences. What these apps do is create my ideas. My ideas will still be unique but they will help in making them appealing to my readers.

Not to talk about achievements, but I had to share this. A young writer when acknowledged will do great. My journey grew to the university. I did my best to stay on top and also go for programs to better my writing skills. So, there was this time when the second lady of Ghana, H.E Samira Bawumia came to do some writing guide. I went there and gave a poem on the occasion. The people and she was amazed as Maths students gave them a great poem like mine. She encouraged me with a book to keep my journey going.

This is how I grew. At each point in it that I will say is determination. The zeal of taking a challenge when know you might not like it. you never know where you will grow. Just take the chance you have and try and learn to be a better human.
