Most of the people just follow random people and upvote them to make their account successful. 
This method can be used to get your steamit account running but there is a problem with it.
When you aimlessly just upvote people it decreases your own steam power. That means your upvote will give others some bucks nothing more. 
What you gotta do is build your steem power so that your upvote makes an effect. 
Try to maintain upvote power more than 80%. 
Upvote people that uploads some usefull content or something interesting.
