 I took this photo a few years back out in Connemara in the West of Galway. I love how the blue of the sky really sticks out in this shot. Connemara is a cultural region in County Galway, Ireland. It is someplace I would recommend all tourists who visit Ireland to go and see. It is an oasis of calm and natural beauty. There is something extremely relaxing about the place. The area has a strong association with traditional Irish culture and contains makes up the largest Gaeltacht in Ireland. A Gaeltacht is an Irish speaking community. Yes, we have our own language in Ireland, though sadly the majority of people cannot speak it, even though we all learned it in school for 13 or 14 years.. Unfortunately it was often taught in a very draconian way. In my adult life, I am trying to reconnect with our language and we plan to send our sons to an Irish speaking school. I am looking forward to reconnecting with the language as my sons learn it too.  I love the mountains and rugged nature which defines the landscape here in Connemara. The piece of wood in the foreground here is bogoak, and lay beneath the bog for 5000 years, where it was preserved by the tanic acid in the bog. It was unearthed some years back, and will be used to carve beautiful bog oak sculptures by a local artist.  This beautiful purple heather calls the beautiful Connemara mountainside home. It flowers a gorgeous vibrant colour, and really brings the hillside to life..  These guys wont be too far away anywhere you go in Connemara, and often wander the roads unbounded, chewing the cud as they watch the passing cars wondering why we are all in such a rush?? *I used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 to take these photos*  Hopefully you enjoyed that post, so why not drop by and check out some of my writing, photos and opinion https://steemit.com/@ablaze
