You came up short. What does this mean? How will your struggles affect you? There's two ways in which to view your shortcomings. One is to throw a pity party, the other is to reframe and acknowledge they may not be shortcomings at all. The first one may be a common response, but it's no secret to which one is best. I recently applied for an internship and didn't get it. Reasons be damned, I was bummed. I was down. But then I remembered the bigger picture. Any rejection now is an opportunity to grow and to improve. You choose how you view each setback. True success lies in the lens you view. Sure rejection stings. But so do bees. Rub your arm and move on. Didn't get the job? You're not a loser. How can you better market yourself next time? Didn't pass your test? You're not dumb. How can you study better next time? Didn't get the date? Don't think you don't deserve him or her. Go on a date with yourself. Step out of the river of negativity and realize you're better than you sometimes think. There's no area of your life you currently can't fix. Opportunities to grow are a plenty and so to is your chance to reframe. You're not broken. You're not alone. A rejections sole purpose is to strengthen your ability to reframe.
