Piracy In Gaming
<div class="text-justify">

So how many of you are into gaming? Especially PC games? I would like to believe that you guys do play some games now and then even if not regularly. Although I have seen that certain esports titles are a lot famous in the world, so forgive me if I am assuming wrongly that most of you people are into PC gaming to some extent, but what I want to talk about now isn't just about playing those games. I want to talk about the system of acquisition. By that I mean simply paying for the game up front on different stores such as steam, epic or game studios native launchers. Or there are other ways. Such as just taking the high seas.

By taking the high seas, I mean being pirates in a world of games where they are becoming expensive and not bringing much to table and its change. While at the same time game studios announce that people who buy the game are no longer the owners of the game. There's a relatively famous quote from Ubisoft where they said gamers should get used to the fact that they do not own games anymore. And that studios can pull any game at any time of their choosing, regardless of how many people bought it or who bought it? Or how many hours a player played in it. This caused a lot of backlash. And expectedly the studios went back on this statement. But regardless, piracy is increasing. People are torrenting games more than ever. While you may ask what good will torrenting bring. It is just the same as downloading. But this is where the difference is. Games are a lot expensive these days. And gone are the days of TVs. You could rent a DVD and finish a game and then return it to the store. But the main benefit of such piracy is that you actually get to own your game. Unlike legit copies of a game, no studio can pull your copy because it is not connected to that studio anymore. These cracked games are what keeping me alive. I live in a third world country and my personal income isn't even close to buying a $70 game which may even have some very beautiful visuals. So piracy is good for me because I get to play a lot more games than I usually would be able to.

But nonetheless, piracy is increasing more than before and part of the responsibility of all this goes to those game developers who think they can just go out and say you don't own our games. Whereas that has been the case for so long, piracy should be stopped. I agree with that. But at the same time we should remember that this torrenting has allowed a lot more people play a lot more games. But we all should pay whenever we can.
