It's funny to see how Elon Musk is trying "so desperately" to turn Twitter into a Hive replica and despite the shills that we have on Twitter for Hive, there are still no mass inflows of new users. Even the crypto heads that know about this thing and see its value are ignoring the blockchain because their audience is on youtube and Twitter. I had an exchange of comments with Lopp a few days ago on one of his tweets where he was detailing his "backup platforms" for his content. A total waste of time from my side. There are always gonna be new folks joining Hive and there are always going to be individuals that leave. It happens with everything. I am close to five years on Hive and although I had some of the best time spent online here I still remember how clumsy my first steps were, thus I'm making these "newbie ABC" posts where I share some of the shit that I've been through with the hope that it can help others. Today I wanna talk about "the doom and gloom" one will have to go through at some point and no, I'm not talking about the Justin Sun Steem takeover. I'm actually typing my ass here on what might frustrate new users in their first few weeks, months, and even years on Hive and how to overcome these. You're all by yourself and that's the factor that will have the potential to turn quite a bunch of your sunny days into gloomy ones. Just because you're not part of any community... Yes, you can choose to spend time in certain communities, like posting communities, but it's gonna take some time until you make yourself a tribe. You better come to terms with that. In the early days of any hiver, you may at some point find yourself dedicating hours and hours a day to creating content just to "wake up" the next day to one or two, or maybe no comment at all on that particular post, and little to no curation. I have already tackled why this happens in [a previous post](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@acesontop/the-newbies-abc-tale-1-what-you-got-wrong-about-hive) so go check on that one to see why it happens. It depends on you though whether it is temporary or it will haunt you for the rest of your life on Hive :). HIVE, as pretty much every shitcoin listed on any exchange, is "the slave" of the bull and bear market cycles. Hence, your revenues will fluctuate in value a lot. There's nothing given in here, although a lot of shit is on auto, thus you have gotta be prepared to bathe yourself in cash(HIVE tokens) during bull seasons or to "embrace poverty" during bear markets like basically what I'm doing for a couple of months or so. You need to be quite a character to be able to become a full-time hiver and you have to basically learn how to "digest the gloom". Oh, and then there are the downvotes. These ones can bite on your ass whether you've been naughty or not and unless you enter any flag war or abuse the platform in any way, these shall pass. You should expect a bunch of them on any post of yours that hits the trending page, though, cuz there's always gonna be someone "who disagrees" with the quality of your posts. Sometimes though you will taste your own poison and that will only happen when you will start comparing yourself with others and the payouts of your posts with other users' payouts. Trust me, there's always gonna be someone better paid than you, there's always gonna be some pieces of content that are quite crappy but scored better than yours. Life's not fair and neither curation is. Get over that... Soon... And your life on Hive will be much easier. At the moment there's no second best for Hive, I guarantee that. So, dear newbie, don't quit... And I hope this post helps in any way. That's about it for today, I wish you all a great Sunday, and see you next time. *Thanks for your attention,* *Adrian* Posted Using [LeoFinance Beta](https://leofinance.io/@acesontop/the-newbies-abc-tale-2-digest-the-gloom)
