In school, I was told that evolution was governed by the principles discovered by Darwin: the survival of the fittest. I believe that capitalism is perceived according to the same values. Competition reigns and the strongest are there to win it all. ## When cells started to merge The more I studied things however, the more I started to see nuances to this. If you look at a smaller level and you go back in time, species didn't exist. There were only unicellular beings. The amazing thing is that these beings started to collaborate together. They realized that if they worked together they would have more chances to survive. The started to merge together to create always bigger organisms. When you look at the human body, you see millions of cells that work together in one big entity. This entity absorbs new cells in the form of food and disposes of cells that it doesn't need anymore. These inputs and outputs are used by other organisms. The food that we eat is produced by other organisms and our outputs are the inputs that plants need to grow. ## When the Antelope becomes the Lion When a lion kills the weakest antelope of a tribe, it's true that the weakest didn't survive but when you look at the cells of this antelope, they end up as part of the body of the lion and they go on existing. When looking at the cell level, I believe we have an organization which is really responsible for evolution and this organization is collaboration. Together, we can evolve and develop. Life survives even if some species don't. In my opinion, the economy doesn't really give enough value to the principle of collaboration. What stands out from all the courses that I took at university is that you have to beat your competition, be better and cheaper than them. However, when you look at a business that is not in competition with you but that produces parts that you need for your own products, well it's not competition but collaboration that brings you further. If you don't have the parts to produce your product, you can be as cheap as you want. You won't sell any products! > The economy is full of collaboration. Without collaboration, nothing really works. We saw that with the supply chain problems after Covid. ## Hive the framework for worldwide collaboration When I look at the online world, I believe that the Hive ecosystem is a perfect framework to encourage collaboration among actors. Hive poses the foundation for a worldwide collaboration potential. All users on hive share a common protocol to exchange stuff. We all use a tandem of currencies (Hive and HBD) that can be used as means of exchange for borderless and free transactions. We have all adopted a standard way to produce content over the blockchain and we all have adopted a certain type of account system where you have full transparency. These seem very small feats but they are actually very important. When looking at how the economy struggles with different currencies, different laws, different entities, different languages, different governements, I can't help but see how great it is to have a shared standard here on Hive. This shared standard is an amazing tool to make worldwide collaboration easier. What we do from here depends on us but I think that our brains haven't really grasped what all this means. Hive could become a center piece for worldwide collaboration between people. <hr> **Let's connect !
