It's been about 11 days now since I got another pancreatitis attack, I've been getting on average 2 every month since my last hospital visit and even though I was going to fly back to Finland to do the operation covid happened which kept me here. The doctors understood it and are now looking to see if they have the resources for me to do an emergency operation here since it's been a long time since they've recommended it and a couple months past the preferred deadline of me having done it. I kinda miss Finland and especially a bit colder weather right now which is why I used this thumbnail pic below as it's getting pretty hot here now even though they have AC's here in the hospital.

The reason for the title is that I've been sleeping like a fucking sloth this week in the hospital. I mean, the last time I remember being sleepy as well the first couple days but it went away shortly after that and I had a lot of days I could just chill on the laptop and curate, post and even found the time to trade a little bit. I figured it was due to the infection and my body working hard to fight it off along with all the fluids and no nutrition coming in from food or drinks but even then it was like max 14h per day for the first couple days, now it's been close to 16 hours every day for almost the whole week.

Thing is that during covid I really didn't want another hospital visit to happen cause figured the chances of me getting it there were a lot higher than elsewhere since it might be a hotspot but not really sure if that theory was great. So each time I did get an attack I prayed to the simulation gods that it would pass after some vomiting and sleeping it off with paracetamol in me (which apparently is one of the few accepted painkillers for my stomach during these attacks). So far so good but this last time of course it didn't want to go away, after nearly 5 days of not eating and just drinking and laying in bed in pain and discomfort hoping that it would go away the next time I wake up it was finally time to visit the hospital when I started vomiting again after a couple days break of only having drank water and natural fruit juice.

So my theory now is that the longer I've kept waiting it out that the infection would heal itself off and at the same time the longer I postpone vomiting the worse it gets in the end. I don't even know why I do it at this point anymore, I should be used to vomiting after the 8 to 10 attacks I've had this year and each time I had to visit the hospital has been those times I wanted to be thickskulled and not vomit thinking that would change anything. So maybe that's also the reason why it took a lot longer this time around for the infection to disappear and I've now first been starting to "eat" some soup and am allowed to drink more water. In the beginning they were all like "you can only wet your lips eheheh" and then "only a few sips at a time" now they like "ye water good drink lots of it" as if that's news to anyone.

Another thing I'm surprised at is how much and for how long they been feeding me painkillers this time around, with feeding I mean injecting me with them. They keep asking me if I'm in pain which is weird cause the pain stopped pretty much completely on day two after they on day 1 started giving me a stronger sedative than paracetamol in liquid form which wasn't as strong for the pain of the infection. They're still giving me that stronger one even though I've told them for over 5 days now that I've had 0 pain, I even asked if it wouldn't be best to maybe chill with the painkillers for a bit to see if there is any pain without them but no "no pain" they keep telling me which I assume they mean me having pain is not good for it somehow? Not sure how they are related, I mean if I can feel pain it's not like that will make the infection worse, right? So they keep asking me daily if I feel any pain to which I respond no but at the same time it's like a different nurse and doctor every time so I can never tell how much they're up to speed or who is what most of the time. This one time someone else who's in this room but in the first bed (I'm in the 3rd with a window view) came up to me randomly and started speaking english as he'd heard me struggling with the nurses and I didn't even realize he was a patient instantly and thought he was also a nurse or a doctor since they have these sheets between the three beds way more strictly this time around due to covid so patients barely talk to each other.

Anyway, I'm glad this is progressing even though slower than the last time and I hope I get to do the operation soon to have it over with and not be as stressful when eating in the near future. The patient in the middle went home today so let's see if that improves my sleep a little since he was literally snoring louder than a slayer concert. Looking forward to be back home to my PC cause every time I'm forced to use my laptop again I remember how fast and nice it is to do hive stuff on the PC and write on a mechanical keyboard. <3

Then again I guess that feeling of "you don't know what you got until is gone" is not just something I'm feeling right now since covid is reminding everyone of that daily in the whole world.
