0.000 HBDEOS - RAM Trading Part 2 - Selling
--- --- ### Preface
Remember that speculating on anything is a risk, I am not telling you what to do with your money or giving financial advice. This post is a follow-up to my article on how RAM trading works, focused on selling. The process involved in buying RAM can be found [here](https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@aclarkuk82/eos-ram-trading) ### Set Targets - Do Not Let Greed Win
I promised myself that I would not get greedy, I set a milestone to sell the majority of the RAM I purchased once the overall RAM Utilization hit over 50%. I felt the block producers would use that metric as a time to start discussing the possibility of increasing the current 64G amount, thereby dropping the current price considerably if they pulled the trigger soon after. The 50% milestone is my own goal, I do not have inside information nor have I heard any rumors stating that value. This process was an experiment in how the trading process worked, it just so happens that it paid off very well for me. ### Back Story
I spent 250 tokens on RAM at the price of 0.01943963 EOS per kb on June 20th, 2018. Using the formula from the code in the delegate_bandwidth.cpp that I discuss [here](https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@aclarkuk82/eos-block-one-to-release-version-1-0-7-today-ram-fee-change), the fee for the transaction was 2.24 so the final amount spent on RAM would have been 248.75 as seen from my transaction history --- --- Using that amount, I would have received 12,796.02 Kilobytes of RAM. Add this to the amount of RAM I already owned, we get the total allocation show on my account details. --- --- ### Time To Sell When I checked the total allocation on 26th June 2018, I saw that it had breached my target of 50%. ---
*Information Source*

https://www.eosrp.io/#
--- I did not want to sell at this point as I have a price per Kilobyte in mind, but I stuck to my guns and executed the sale. The process was as easy as purchasing which is great news. Moreover, as the EOS network is so fast, the funds hit my account before I had a chance to flip back to my wallet and check. To make the sale, head back over to the toolset from @genereos (https://eostoolkit.io/account/sellram). You will need to enter the amount of RAM you wish to sell in bytes and not kilobytes which is a little frustrating as all the tools display youur allocation in Kilobytes. To keep it simple, work out the amount of RAM you want to sell in kilobytes and add three zero's. Once again, you will need to have Scatter setup to Sign the transaction, use the walkthrough from @genereos found [here](https://steemit.com/eos/@genereos/eostoolkit-revamp-new-features). Once you have Scatter ready to go, just attach your identity, enter the amount of RAM you wish to sell in *BYTES* and click sell. You will be prompted by Scatter to confirm the transaction, click accept and you are done. The funds will hit your account almost instantly, I received 497.1631 tokens for selling 100K of RAM, not bad at all. I am of course kicking myself this morning (27th June), as the RAM price hasn’t exploded, but like I keep telling myself, do not be greedy and profit is still profit. --- --- ### Next Steps
The entire process was a breeze and I will most definitely continue to trade RAM once the block producers increase the total amount available. There will be a total of 2 Terabytes allocated when all is said and done so depending on how they choose to incremenet the RAM, we could have many more opportunities to increase out stacks coming up.
