Así, desde ese momento y tas escuchar que mi madre daba una breve explicación de lo que esta prenda ocasionó en las mujeres que lo usaron quede abismada, así esta prenda creada en el siglo XVIII en Francia llego a su auge en el siglo XIX, en la llamada época victoriana, hay quienes lo ubican aún más lejos 1600 A.C y alegan que su creación y origen se dio en Creta donde se utilizaba una prenda para estilizar la figura y mostrar los senos fuera de la ropa, luego se usó en la antigua Grecia y Roma para reducir el tamaño del busto Por otra parte, aunque muchas vemos las figuras de las damas que usaron esta prenda como envidiables debido a lo estilizadas que lucían, el corsé podría compararse con un instrumento de tortura y hasta podríamos decir que fue un asesino. De la misma manera, algunos señalan que los primeros modelos usaron huesos de ballena para dar ese soporte requerido para lograr que la prenda cumpliera con el objetivo dar la figura ideal a las damas, redondeando las costillas y aplastando la cintura, aunque también fue usado por caballeros, actualmente se le considera por algunos, un instrumento patriarcal, impuesto a las mujeres de ciertas épocas, de hecho hubo una reina Catalina de Medici, que prohibió las cinturas anchas en la Corte Real de Francia, lo que provocó que el corsé, fuera una prenda necesaria y obligatoria para muchas damas de la época en Francia. Así pues, por otro lado, esta prenda que era obligatoria para las damas que no desearan ser llamadas ligeras, fue la causante de desmayos, constipación, mala digestión, de mover los órganos de lugar, abortos y en ocasiones de la muerte, esto último fue lo que le ocurrió a una dama tras que se le insertan las varas de su corsé en el corazón.
