<div class="text-justify">

A few days ago I made a publication related to mothers, since in Venezuela as in other countries the second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother's Day, in that [publication]( https://inleo.io/@actioncats/como-hija-y-madre-4nb?referral=actioncats) I mention a video in which a psychologist talks about how positive discipline is bordering on ridiculousness and I mention there that I totally agree with her.

I was born in 1974 so I was raised in the times when parents made it clear that they were the authority, many neighbors tell me anecdotes of when I was a little girl and how I would try to manipulate my grandmother by telling her that if she didn't take me to the playground I would cry and how she would respond by saying: -Well, cry.

I also remember how my mother on more than one occasion imposed discipline on me in different ways, punished without going out, without watching television, also when I was slapped or slapped, in those moments everything for me was a tragedy and I even felt that my mother or grandmother were bad and I thought I hated them and that as soon as I grew up I would leave home and never come back.

I also remember how my mother taught me to study, helped me with my homework, congratulated me for my good grades, encouraged me and took care of me, that is, she also gave me love and explained to me when I had discipline the reasons why we had reached that point, that is, she made me reason and understand.

But now looking back, I know that each of those disciplines, which at no time were exaggerated, nor bordered on mistreatment, I earned it and that timely discipline kept me on the right path.

I see with concern how now children and adolescents are more in charge than their parents, how parents cannot handle them and they are miniature monsters that I do not know what they will do when they are adults and the world does not bow down to them, because they believe they have the right to everything.

Precisely I made reference to the mentioned publication because the son of some neighbors who is only about three years old and manipulates them as he wants, I hear him cry very regularly and it is to get his way because I notice for example that mom and dad do not agree.

It is true that there are no perfect parents and we all make mistakes, but I for example tried to raise my son as someone strong who would not cry at any blow, I speak both physically and emotionally, for example as a child if he fell I did not run out to pick him up unless I saw that it was really necessary I would tell him:

- Stand up, stand up, nothing happened, clean yourself and continue.

I see with deep concern how children now have no respect for their parents, they yell at them for talking only about one aspect, I remember that if I would have thought of raising my voice a little, my mother could have given me at least a good spanking or I would have had to dodge a slap, more words more words less parents taught us that everything has consequences that there were limits rules and also that they were the authority and they were respected.

In summary, for this servant the method of upbringing has changed for the worse, I say goodbye leaving here my participation in [Hive Naija Weekly Prompt | Edition 98]( https://inleo.io/@hive-naija/hive-naija-weekly-prompt-edition-98-kff)
