Having several streaming channels is let's say a blessing, but having at least access to 3 of the well-known Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video among others is complicated sometimes to choose what to watch, but days ago I dedicated myself to save a list on Netflix to then go watching little by little, on the other hand, I mentioned sometime or in several I have mentioned that I am not at all a fan of horror movies, but strangely a title that was noticeable in its trailer had its touch that could give me my scares, but it was an excellent choice.

Basically, this series focuses on showing us the death of an entire family and their empire, this family is surnamed Usher, The family headed by Roderick Usher who is the father of 6 children of which only 2 were the product of his first marriage, the other four are the product of later adventures and learned that he was their father after a certain age.

For his part, the prosecutor Auguste Dupin wants the Usher family to pay for their crimes, since all their fortune comes from their shares of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, where they have manufactured and sold for decades a drug called Ligodon that produces addiction and has triggered addictions and death of thousands of people around the world.

 

This miniseries, 8 great chapters, is based on the story of the same name written by Edgar Allan Poe. In each chapter we are shown the often degenerate and twisted lifestyle of the rich, how they get everything using their checkbook and how they manage to evade justice, at least for a while.



Since the members of this family begin to die suddenly and in twisted ways, starting with the youngest of Roderick Prospero's children and so on to him and his twin sister Madeline Usher.

During the 8 chapters we will see what is happening in the present day and how Roderick and Madeline took the steps that bore fruit and the subsequent consequences for each of the family members.



 

We can also see throughout the series a mysterious woman who appears to each of the members of the Usher and accompanies them in their terrible deaths.

Of this series I can say that I loved the cast, for example I have always admired Bruce Greenwood who plays the role of Roderick Usher, who gives that distinguished touch to the series, besides playing his role very well, we can also see Carla Gugino who plays the role of a dark, elegant, sexy, multifaceted and mysterious character, who keeps you all the series wondering who is someone from the past, a supernatural being? Another unrecognized son, a resentful girlfriend? And only at the end do you understand who she is and why she was involved in the downfall of this family. I loved seeing Mark Hamill here as Arthur Pym, the family lawyer, it was so shocking to see him in a role so different from Luke Skywalker, which in my opinion allowed me to appreciate his quality as an actor.




On the other hand, I loved how each of Roderick Usher's children had a different nuance, even the two legitimate children of the same mother and father were different, each with their excesses, fears, ambitions and so on, showing us how having money can not buy happiness or health and how many times when making selfish decisions we affect others around us incredibly.

As for the scenery I loved or called my attention was to show us the ruined house of the Usher's childhood, how the place was deteriorating, like the whole neighborhood, indirectly showing the rottenness of the family and how everything ends where it began, the costumes are great, the music and what I most enjoyed, I do not know if it comes from the story is the poetry present in part of the dialogues that gives a magical touch and even elegant to this series.

 

Finally, if you want to see a short but very good series, full of drama, mystery, suspense, and horror, you will undoubtedly enjoy this miniseries.

El tener varios canales streaming es digamos que una bendición, pero al tener al menos acceso a 3 de los conocidos Netflix, Disney+ y Prime Video entre otros es complicado a veces elegir que ver, pero hace días me dedique a guardar una lista en Netflix para luego ir viendo poco a poco, por otro lado, mencione algún momento o en varios he mencionado que no soy para nada fan de las películas de terror, pero extrañamente un título que se notaba en su tráiler tenía su toque que podría darme mis sustos, pero fue una excelente elección.

Básicamente, esta serie se centra en mostrarnos la muerte de toda una familia y su impero, esta familia se apellida Usher, La familia encabezada por Roderick Usher quien es padre de 6 hijos de los cuales solo 2 fueron producto de su primer matrimonio, los otros cuatro son el producto de aventuras posteriores y supieron que él era su padre luego de cierta de edad.

 

Por su parte, el fiscal Auguste Dupin desea que la familia Usher pague por sus crímenes, ya que toda su fortuna provine de sus acciones de Fortunato Farmacéutica, donde han fabricado y vendido por décadas un medicamento de nombre Ligodon que produce adicción y ha desencadenado adicciones y muerte de miles de personas en todo el mundo.

 

Esta miniserie, 8 grandiosos capítulos, está basada en el cuento del mismo nombre escrito por Edgar Allan Poe. En cada capítulo nos van mostrando el estilo de vida muchas veces degenerado y torcido de los ricos, el cómo obtienen todo usando su chequera y como logran evadir la justicia, a menos por un tiempo.

 

Ya que los integrantes de esta familia comienzan a morir de forma repentina y de maneras digamos que retorcidas, comenzando por el menor de los hijos de Roderick Prospero y así hasta llegar a él y su hermana gemela Madeline Usher.

 

Durante los 8 capítulos veremos lo que está ocurriendo en la actualidad y como Roderick y Madeline dieron los pasos que dieron los frutos y las posteriores consecuencias para cada uno delos miembros de la familia.

 

También podemos ver a lo largo de la serie una mujer misteriosa que aparece a cada uno de los integrantes de los Usher y les acompaña en sus terribles muertes. 



De esta serie puedo decir que me encanto el elenco, por ejemplo siempre he admirado a Bruce Greenwood quien hace el papel de Roderick Usher, quien le da ese toque distinguido a la serie, además de interpretar muy bien su papel, también podemos ver a Carla Gugino quien interpreta el papel de un personaje oscuro, elegante, sexy, polifacético y misterioso, que te mantiene toda la serie preguntándote quién es ¿será alguien del pasado un ser sobrenatural? ¿Otro hijo no reconocido, una novia resentida? Y solo al final comprendes quién es y porque estuvo involucrada en la caída de esta familia. Me encanto ver aquí a Mark Hamill como Arthur Pym, el abogado de la familia, fue tan impactante verlo en un papel tan diferente al de Luke Skywalker, lo que en mi opinión me permitió apreciar su calidad como actor.

 

Por otro lado, me encanto como cada uno de hijos de Roderick Usher tenía un matiz diferente, aun los dos legítimos siendo hijos de la misma madre y padre eran diferentes cada uno con sus excesos, miedos, ambiciones y demás, mostrándonos como el tener dinero no puede comprar la felicidad o la salud y como muchas veces al tomar decisiones egoístas afectamos increíblemente a otros a nuestro alrededor.

 

En cuanto a la escenografía me encanto o llamo mi atención fue el mostrarnos la casa en ruinas de la infancia de los Usher, como se fue deteriorando el lugar, al igual que todo el vecindario, mostrando de manera indirecta la podredumbre de la familia y como todo termina donde comenzó, el vestuario es genial, la música y lo que más disfrute, que desconozco si es proveniente del cuento es la poesía presente, en parte de los diálogos eso le da un toque mágico y hasta elegante a esta serie.

 

Para terminar si desean ver una serie corta, pero muy buena, llena de drama, misterio, suspenso, y terror, sin lugar a dudas disfrutarás esta miniserie.
