<center></center> <center></center> # WipEout Omega Collection #### Welcome back folks, it’s that time of the week again, time for your weekly game review fix. Well this is a blast from the past, pun intended, and it's on my list of first PlayStation games ever play, and I'm talking way back on the PS1. I think I have probably said it a hundred times by now, I'm really not into racing games or sports games, but Wipeout holds a special nostalgic place in my gamer heart, well because it's history. It was one of those games you could actually play with friends, like Mortal Combat and Tekken, nothing like a good bit of competition between friends to prove who is the better person, I'm joking obviously. There is this almost kind of zen feeling I get when playing Wipeout, and the best way to describe it, would be to acquit it to almost a form of meditation, especially when playing alone. You can absolutely zone out playing this, more so when you start doing time trails, after you have memorized every nook and cranny of a race track. <center>https://youtu.be/bNq8lqUhoV0</center> <center></center> <sup>[source](https://gamingpicks.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/wohd_20150509_220520_r.jpg)</sup> <center></center> #### Unfortunately there is zero story when it comes to this game, unlike other games like Need for Speed, where there is a story that follows through. This is a straight up futuristic racing game, on what looks like a Formula 1 hover craft that the human race will invent one day to come. Wipeout is more about progression and unlocking different race tracks and better ships as you go, and the only way to do so is to win. The original game which was released back in 1995, when everyone was still listening to Bon Jovi and Nirvana, and had a total of four teams each with two anti-gravity ships to choose from and only 7 race tracks. Today there are 26 tracks to unlock as well as more than 46 unique ship models, that you also have to unlock as you master the game. What truly sets Wipeout apart from any other racing game is the smoothness of the experience, both in game play and when it come to the graphics, running at a constant frame rate at any resolution. Make no mistake Wipeout is not easy in any sense of the word, I'd personally put this up there with some of the most challenging games on the market. The first few tracks give you a false sense of achievement and by the time you get close to the halfway mark you'll be coming in dead last, and things start getting very tricky. There are also nine games modes that appear in Omega Collection, Zone, Tournament, Speed Lap, Time Trial and Single Race from HD, Zone Battle, Eliminator and Detonator from Fury, and the Career Mode from 2048. I was lucky enough to get this Wipeout collection as part of the the monthly PlayStation Plus subscription, where very month you get two and even sometimes three or four free games. I'm sure you'll be able to find this as a deal online or at you local game store, and it's a awesome game to have that you take your time with, maybe playing it in between other games. In conclusion WipEout Omega Collection is a fantastic experience through and through, with tones of content to keep you busy for quiet some time. If you haven't heard of them don't worry, neither have I, they mostly helped to create and publish, titles such as LittleBigPlane, Heavenly Sword, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls to name but a few. This installment will be the tenth standalone title in the Wipeout series and the first not developed by original developers Studio Liverpool, following the studio's closure in 2012. It is a remaster of the previous two entries in the series: Wipeout HD, its Wipeout HD Fury expansion and Wipeout 2048 which is the VR version of the game.
