As a teacher, we know that the lesson plan plays a very important role in the learning process. Teachers are required to be able to create lesson plan effectively, and able to run the learning process properly and correctly. So that students get the results of the learning process. Thus, the lesson plan is a series of processes on what the teacher and students are trying to achieve after the learning process.

The definition of lesson plan is:

>*A series of plans that describe the procedure and organizing the learning process to achieve a basic competency that has been defined in the content standard and elaborated through the syllabus* [(Source)]( http://kumpulantugassekolahdankuliah.blogspot.co.id/2015/01/langkah-langkah-penyusunan-rpp.html)

In creating a lesson plan involves several major processes such as determining learning objectives, learning-learning activities, and determining learning materials used by teachers and students [(Thoughtco)]( https://www.thoughtco.com/what-is-a-lesson-plan-2081359). Therefore, in preparing a correct lesson plan, there are several steps that a teacher should follow or do. The following steps will be explained below:

**1. Write down the identity of the subject**
Typically, the subject identity is written at the top of the lesson plan template. The identity of the subject consists of several points: the name of the school, class/student grade, subject, topic, and time allocation.

**2. Write a standard of competence to be achieved**
The competency standards to be written in the lesson plan are the outcomes outlined in the learning syllabus. Standards of competence include three aspects; knowledge, skills and attitudes of learners that illustrate the ability of students to the lessons they learn.

**3. Write down basic competencies**
Just like the standard of competence, basic competence is also the outcome of the learning syllabus. Basic competencies describe the abilities that students must meet in the lesson. This becomes a reference in determining the indicators to be achieved in the lesson plan.

**4. Determining learning indicators to be achieved**
As I mentioned above, the learning indicators are written based on the students' basic competencies in learning. Indicators of achievement of competencies are determined by using operational verbs that can be measured and observed by the teacher. The measurement results include aspects of knowledge, attitudes and skills of students. In determining indicators also teachers need to identify the prior and the next basic competencies that will fit the subject taught.

**5. Determining learning objectives**
The objectives of learning is a description of the behavior that will be shown by students after the learning process. Therefore, in writing effective learning objectives teachers must first determine what teachers and students expect during the learning process. This objective is formulated based on indicators of achievement of competence and basic competence of learning. In addition, the teacher must also determine the previous ability of students to master the material to be taught.

The example of writing learning objectives as follows:
>*The students will write a text story about their last holiday using simple past tense with no errors in terms verbs used, and adverbs of time* [(source)]( http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED571537.pdf)

**6. Determining the material of learning**
The material learning is determined on the basis of relevance to the topic taught to the student. The material should also be appropriate to the student's level of ability and according to the learning objectives. So in the learning process, the material taught in accordance with the method of learning. Learning material contains a number of facts, concepts, principles and procedures in accordance with the formulation of indicators

**7. Choosing the learning method**
In choosing the learning method, the teacher should consider the suitability of student learning characteristics, learning conditions and availability of instructional media. That way, the method that will be used will create an atmosphere and conducive learning process to achieving predetermined learning objectives.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

**8. Developing learning activities**
After the teacher determines the learning method, the next step is to develop learning activities. In determining this activity, the teacher should refer to the learning objectives. In preparing the learning activities the teacher must divide into three phases; preliminary activities, core activities and closure activities. Preliminary activity is an opening activity at the beginning of learning to generate interest and motivation of students in learning. The core activities are the main activities in achieving the learning objectives that involve students in the process of exploration, elaboration and confirmation. In this activity the teacher must involve students maximally in learning. While closing activities are activities where teachers will end the learning process and draw conclusions from what students have learned.

**9. Assessment of student learning outcomes**
The last step is that teachers assess student learning outcomes. This assessment should refer to indicators of achievement of competencies and assessment standards. I myself am a teacher in assessing students using rubrics that I design through [Rubristar](http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php). Because in my opinion, this application is very effective and efficient in determining what I want to assess from students performance.
