All this movement must begin to involve the School system as well. ### Digital Transformation, Business Culture and New Skills However, keep in mind that the digital transformation of a company is no longer a question of "simple" technology, but of a new business culture. Adopting new technologies effectively does not just mean acquiring and operating digital devices or applications, but a transformation that primarily involves business processes, internal resources and skills is needed. What we need for companies, in the first place, is the availability of new skills , the so-called digital skills , without which it would be totally impossible to keep up with technological innovation. In the new Industry 4.0 paradigm, there will be a growing need for "digitally" trained and qualified professionals: big data analysis, management and control of information systems, data transmission in a secure way, cybersecurity, are just some of the digital skills that they will have to be strengthened and / or developed within the company. With attention also to digital capabilities, that is, those professional skills able to better interpret the new opportunities offered by digital transformation and, therefore, to bring about change. It would be unthinkable, in fact, that the advent of an era, the digital one, with disruptive effects on the way of production and on the relationship between supply and demand did not imply a profound impact on people, on their way of working and on the company organization itself. ### The role of schools, politics and businesses in the digital age At the base of all this transformation process, training can play a fundamental role as it has a strategic function which is to help respond to the demand for high levels of skills sought by the smart industry. The school, in particular, must represent the environment in which innovation comes to life, starting from the digital didactics that must be spread throughout the territory, avoiding the creation of 'suburbs' otherwise destined to be marginalized with respect to the new digital economy. To put it another way, we need a further effort to bridge the gaps and gaps in the various areas, for example: ensuring that even the suburbs or small towns are equipped with suitable infrastructures, innovative environments and digital laboratories. This is why we need to implement an investment policy that can develop inclusion and appropriate skills, also and above all where so far this has happened in a partial way. At the same time, training courses for students must be strengthened by developing and strengthening those digital skills that are now essential in any field of work, not just in those purely technological; on the other hand the training on the "digital culture" of the teachers, understood as the ability to understand, and make understand, the advantages that digital can bring in the specific didactic field, and to follow work, referred to the literary subjects to the scientific, economic and technical . The goal must be to make the level of "digital culture" homogeneous and to achieve equal access to technologies in the various educational and geographical contexts. I realize that the path is far from simple. ### Conclusion I would like to conclude with a final observation on the alternation between school and work, which presents itself as a useful tool for dialogue between the two worlds and which sees many companies in the communication section of Unindustria actively involved. Moreover, only through direct contact with companies, the school will be able to identify the skills necessary to provide students, making them more appropriate to an increasingly advanced and globalized market. Our young people represent tomorrow's managers and entrepreneurs, that is, the youth ruling class of the near future. The success of our economy and our country will depend on them: how much greater, solid and adapted to the new digital economy will be the skills acquired in today's school, the more we can aspire to increase its competitive capacity and its leadership among the most industrialized countries at Asia and global level.
