You may have noticed the earnings of your sometimes go up and sometimes down. i have noticed some few guys complaining about this, and some were also calling it bugs. But I am going to make it a bit clear why this happens. The amount that is shown next to your post is **"Potential Payout".** This is not the **actual value**, but an **estimated value** that how much money your post may make based on the Upvotes received on your post. So depending on various factors this value may go Up or Down until you get your final payout on completion of seven days. # Here are some Reasons Effecting Post Payouts ### 1. Steem Price When the price of `Steem` goes up, then the potential payout of the post can go up, but on the other hand when `Steem` price goes down then the potential payout of the post also can go down. ### 2. Upvote or Downvotes Removed When the `Upvotes` are removed from the post, the potential payout can go down. Similarly if the `Downvotes` are removed from other post then potential payout of the post can go up. ### 3. Other Posts Receiving Upvotes/ Downvotes If other posts receive more `Downvotes`, then the potenial payout of the post can go up, and if they receive more `Upvotes` then the potential payout of the post can go down. ### 4. Post Receiving Upvotes/ Downvotes If the post receives more `Upvotes`, then the potential payout can go up for the post, but on the other hand if the post receives more `Downvotes` then the potential payout of the post can go down. I hope this is pretty simple math to understand. And I hope no body will be deeming these Ups and Downs of these potential payout of the posts as `Bugs` from now on. Thanks
