Learning As Each Day Passes By!
I promised myself by the end of 2018 that I will step out of watercolors and increase my hands on other mediums. Well half of 2019 has passed by and so far I am succeeding in keeping that promise to myself!

I have experimented quite a bit with gouache and ink over these past few months while also doing a few watercolors. Oil paints are next on my list but I think that is going to be an impulse act one day 🤣

I mostly painted landscapes, portraits and edible stuff with gouache which were of most interest to me.

It is almost impossible to upload everything in this post so I selected a few (which already looks too much) for today. Clouds are still of the hardest things for me to paint when I think about my time with each one of them. Before, I thought they were super easy and that I would paint them easily, but I was SO wrong lol.

The almost “oil” and “watercolor” look of gouache has been a treat to my eyes. I noticed this most while painting these fruits. The realish but painted look is what I dig most in them. And the tiling that you can do with this medium is just incredible!

About a month ago, I had mentioned following the artist, Jeff Watts whose lessons have been so so worthwhile. It is after that I had the courage to do portraits. I loved doing a little abstract ones and if I had to pick a favorite, the purple lady is the one :P

I also mixed watercolors with gouache to see how they would work together. And they didn’t seem to complain! It worked very well and at the end I couldn’t segregate which was which haha. Anyway, these 3-4 months of gouache have been awesome and I look forward to learning more and experimenting more with them :)
