This year it was cold and rainy in the spring.  I wasn't sure how my garden produces but seems it starts slowly slowly. 

We had few pieces of (!) strawberries and raspberries and finally the last one, black berries start changing the color to deep purple. The first ones will be ready in the weekend.

Squashes are doing good but hungry slugs are doing good too 😱I wrap good ones with insect net so that they don't bite on my squashes. I couldn't wait for the first harvest of Patisson. I took one today to grill for dinner.

Unlike squashes, beans and other plants, slugs don't like spring onions and celeries. I have plenty of celery this year in my herb container. Next year I shall plant them directly to soil around plants that are eaten by slugs.

I cooked bolognese sauce with the celeries. The celeries are more for soup without thick stem but it's enough for us as we are not celery stick eaters. I haven't bought celeries from store last two years. This year bush beans are quite successful too. I have almost enough from our garden.

I wish I can increase the variety of vegetables that I can be self sustainable.

今年は春が雨降りで寒くていつ夏野菜を植えたものかとやきもきしましたが、自然の力はすごい、何かが育ってあれこれ庭から野菜がとれはじめました。

ベリー類はいちごとラズベリーがちょぼちょぼとれて、ブラックベリーが色づいてきました。ブラックベリーは去年きちんと剪定をしたので結構な数実がついていて子どもがおやつに食べるのを楽しみにしています。

瓜類はコンポストを敷いたエリアで好調なのですが、、、なめくじも絶好調で食べられる食べられる。あまりにすぐに荒らされてしまうので、いい感じに育っているものは虫取りネットで覆うようになりました。

その中でも大きくなり始めていたパティッソン（UFO型のズッキーニ）を待てずにひとつ収穫してしまいました。お夕飯にグリルして食べます。

なめくじにも負けずによく育っているのは、セロリとネギで、彼らはにおいが嫌いなのかな、かじられもせずきれいに育っています。今年はハーブをまとめてコンテナに植えていますが、来年はもう地植えでいいかもしれません。

スープ用のセロリなので茎は太くないですが、うちではセロリスティックをもりもり食べることはなくて、育てやすいこともありこれで十分。去年と今年はセロリをお店で買っていないかも。Steemit時代にガーデニングブログを書かれていた方のブログで知って育てはじめて大好きになったのが懐かしいです。

セロリ以外では、インゲン豆も好調で、地面に近いものをなめくじが試食したあとは見つかるものの、そこまで好きではないようでたくさん収穫できています。こちらも旬のはじめに一度マーケットで買って、以降は庭のものでことたりています。

こうして庭で足りる作物を年々増やしていって、おばあちゃんになるまでに徐々にセルフサステイナブルにシフトしていけたらいいな 😊
