 The other day, I bought some amount of mustard seeds for test cooking, and was wondering what to do with them. Then I remembered what the lady at the spice shop told me — "You can make mustard yourself!" So I gave it a try, and to my surprise, mustard is really easy to make. I thought it might need to ferment for a while, but actually, you just soak the mustard seeds in water for an hour, crush them to your preferred texture, mix in vinegar, sugar, and salt—and that’s it. I was so happy with my homemade mustard that I bought some tofu sausages and enjoyed them with vegetables for lunch. It was... delicious ☺️  Knowing that you can make mustard with your ideal level of texture and flavor—just from mustard seeds—I'm planning to enjoy homemade mustard for a while. Oh, and did you know that mustard seeds can also be used for sprouts? Actually, some of the seeds in my mustard already started sprouting! So I added some mustard seeds to the sprouts I started growing today. If you're a mustard lover, why not try making your own mustard—or growing some mustard sprouts! --- 先日試作のために買ったマスタードのタネがたくさんあってどうしたものかと思い、スパイス屋さんのおねえさんが「自分でマスタード作れるよ」と言っていたのを思い出して作ってみたら、マスタードって簡単につくれるのですね。しばらく寝かせて発酵させたりするのかと思いきや、マスタードの種を水に浸して、好みの荒さに潰して、酢、砂糖、塩を混ぜてできあがり。 マスタードができたうれしさのあまり、豆腐ソーセージを買ってきてお昼に野菜と食べました。お・・・おいしい☺️  マスタードの種さえあれば、好みのプチプチ加減、味加減でマスタードを作れると知って、しばらく自作マスタードを楽しもうと思います。そうそう、マスタードの種はスプラウトとしても使えるよとのことで、確かに。実際マスタードの中の種の一部が発芽してる!今日作り始めたスプラウトにマスタードのタネをたしたのでした。 マスタード好きの人は自作マスタードにスプラウトに試してみてはいかがでしょうか!
