A nomad post after a while. I got to know Transferwise and used it recently. It's quite convenient. Money arrived quickly. I'm satisfied with the exchange rate and the transaction fee. It looks a perfect option for people who want to send money to a family member abroad or balance savings in multiple bank accounts with different currencies in different countries (my case!).

Initial ID, address and bank account verification processes take time and effort but they can be done completely online. When you want to transfer money, you make a transaction information on Transferwise website, how much money you want to send to who, and send money to specified Transferwise bank account. After I sent money to Transferwise, the money arrived within 1-2 business days.

Once I thought about using crypto as a medium of international money transfer. However considering that I have to open exchange accounts linked to both sending and receiving bank accounts, take the risk of volatile crypto exchange rate, pay high transaction fee, wait for few days the money arrives to destination bank account ... , the idea turned to be unrealistic.

So until crypto becomes more convenient and stable, I use Transferwise for international money transfer :)

久しぶりのノマドネタです。少し前に Transferwise というサービスを教えてもらって先日使ってみました。感想はというと、手軽にささっと国際送金ができて、レートがよく手数料も安くて大満足です。外国にいる家族への国際送金や、複数の国で銀行口座を持っていて残高のバランスを取りたい時などに役立つと思います。

最初に送金者の本人確認と住所確認をして、送金元の銀行口座を登録する必要はありますが、そこまで手間ではなく、アカウント開設に必要な情報を入力して書類のデジタルデータをアップロードしてすべてウェブで完了します。送金する時には Transferwise のウェブサイトでどこにいくら送金したいのか入力し、指定の口座に送金すると、平日なら1-2日で送金先にお金が届きます。

一時期、仮想通貨を介して国際送金できるのではと考えていたことがありましたが、送金元と送金先それぞれに対応する取引所にアカウントを開設して、値動きのリスクをとって、手数料もばかにならず、取引所と銀行の間の入出金を考慮すると送金完了までに数日かかるというのはあまり現実的ではありません。

そんなこんなで国際送金にはしばらく Transferwise を使ってみようと思います :)
