It is my trivial thought. When I was walking around Zoo with my daughter yesterday, I thought it would be nice there was a veggie zoo, where visitors can see various vegetables grown and tasting event in the end of seasons. There is a good botanical garden in Leipzig but it focuses on plants in general. 

This idea partially comes from my seed selecting experience during the winter holidays. It was so difficult for me to select seeds from seed catalogs especially when it's said to be "tasty". I wished I could taste them. It is hard to describe how tasty it is. Sweet tomatoes are tasty but I like sour, a bit salty, umami-taste tomatoes more. 

Of course I can try varieties year by year and find out what do I like but I have limited land and time (life time!).

I may write to my favorite seed company that there is a tasting opportunity.

Actually an American seed company [Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds](https://www.rareseeds.com/) does this. They have open days and annual event to showcase heirloom vegetables.

I wish there is a company like Baker Creek in Europe ... Or shall I make it for my life work?? This year I try to make my garden a place where my friends and kids can visit to have fun time.

昨日子どもと動物園を歩きながら、植物版、野菜版があれば毎週行くのにと思いました。私が住んでいるライプチヒにも植物園はあるのですが、植物一般なんですよね。野菜が中心のところがあればいいのに。季節の終わりに試食会があって、次のシーズンに買う種を選ぶ参考にできたらいいのに！

この年末年始、種のカタログの「おいしい」という表現に何度となく翻弄されて、食べて選べたらいいのに・・・と何度も思いました。毎年種類を変えて理想の野菜を選べたらいいですが、土地が足りないし、土地があったとしても時間が足りません。

昨年、私は甘みのあるトマトよりも適宜酸味や塩味のあるトマトが好きなことがわかって、こういうのって文章では表現しきれないと思うのです。食べたい・・・。種を注文する会社に試食する機会はないか問い合わせてみようかと考えているほどです。

アメリカの種苗会社Baker Creek Heirloom Seedsってこれをやっているんですよね。自社農場のオープンデーがあって、年一回、伝統種を一堂に会したイベントを開催しています。ただ、アメリカなので、遠い＆種を買っても簡単に国境を超えて種を持ち帰れないのが難点です。

ああ、ドイツとは言わないまでもヨーロッパにこういうイベントや会社、または野菜園はないものでしょうか。。作ればいいのか・・・！今年は庭をお友達や子どもたちが訪ねて楽しい場所にするのが目標です。
