 **I do love writing! It is a self healing, a soul therapy.** Are you with me for that quote? 😊 For me, as the one who loves, loves and loves writing a lots, **writing is truly a soul therapy**. I don't know why, but 'talking' to my note pad to release my feeling, or just writing them on a page of paper using my hand writing, is really-really helpful. Btw, talking about writing world, are you aware that @sndbox just launched a new #sndboxquest? Yes! And this one is so awesome. The one that writers are awaiting for! Curious what? And of course we also have to tell them what would we do once inside (if we are selected in) and what our overall goals are. The second task is **to make a minimum length of 2000 words story**, any kind of topic, and the third one is **to make a compilation** as the final task. Wow! It sound very interesting, right? And...? And of course I will use this perfect moment to write down my journey of writing, from the one who loves to share her thought and feeling to the diaries, then blogs, novel and now steemit! In the other hand, this occasion is also the best time for me to accomplish my promise to some of my steemian friends. **My Writing Journey started Here** Hm, actually, I don't know clearly when this hobby started. The one that I realized is that I love reading so much! I have lots of children fiction books and kids magazines. Regularly, my father also bought me Majalah Bobo (one of Indonesian famous kids magazine) that mostly inspired me **to make my own stories** after I read them. Adding by the great imagination that I have, I often let it developed and played like a drama in my mind anytime I was feeding our chickens when I was a child and we were living in the village. LOL. I remember how my imagination evolved into dialogues which then written down into my book and diaries. It was amazing to do that and I am blessed for it. One of the story/dialogues were about the chicks that were feeling so happy to see me coming to feed them. Her mom was sick, and seeing my coming, they woke up her to be ready for having meal. One of the chick told me that their mom was unwell and do hope that I can examine and give her medicine, and so on. LOL. What's a truly kids drama! Anytime I visited and fed them, some dialogues must be developed naturally and of course I wrote them down into my book. Unfortunately, I kept doing this in silence, writing stories only for my notebook/diaries and just left them there. I have never dared to submit them to Majalah Bobo, or any other kids magazine in my country. Poor me. 😜 But, however, as I love reading and writing a lots, of course this hobbies provided me an added values in the lesson of Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language lesson), category of writing. I always get excellent score for this category. Yeayy!! And as time flies, the writing activity left behind while I found and enjoyed another newest activities such as playing tennis, swimming, drawing and other teenagers sport at that time. But, reading, is still the most one that I love and keep doing as my routines. At this point, I am hopeless that I would be a writer, especially when I move forward to study at the Engineering Faculty. Good bye writer and welcome chemical engineer! LOL. .png) **Welcome back, writing world!** It was around 2003 when my colleagues and I were in love in reading romance and romantic novels. The novels were from my husband whose bought them from second book market. And as the novels were limited (we only have 10 or something), of course, then we faced the reality. The stock of novels finished and we need more to read, but lazy to buy, haha. Arrogantly, I stated to my colleagues that I am able to write those kind of novel! Ops! This statement just came out without a second thought! Huft! And...? Of course my colleagues starred at me, their eyes widened questioningly, "are you serious, Al? Prove it!" LOL. Then...? Then I have to pay my responsibility for what I have declared. Haha.  As the internet connection was still very-very expensive at this time, as well as the printed out cost was also high. I decided to just write the story on word document, and then ask my colleagues to print them out. Amazingly, I just spent 5 days to completed the story. Titled as "Selingan Semusim", printed out and presented to my colleagues. **How did the respond?** Surprisingly, all of them love the story! According to them, the story flows naturally, successfully directed reader to be in the flow of the story. Wow, I was speechless! LOL. But, of course, as, I wrote on the picture above, **writing is an action in generating ideas and turn our imagination, feeling and experience into the story**, so I also used my experience or others experience in making the story flowing good and natural. This result was successfully revived my awareness, that this hobby was still inside! I know that I love writing, I am happy doing it. And realizes that this is one of my way in releasing my stress. This is the way for my soul therapy. Yes! Since that, I kept writing fictions, all saved in my word document (since I was not connected yet to internet). Poor me, even in 2003 I do not familiar with internet yet! 😱 *Hello, Alaika, where have you been?* ## Tsunami was my Turning Point **I met Blogs and be in love and addicted to Them** .png) I will say that tsunami, December 2004 was **my turning point**. It was tsunami, who pulled me back to my hometown, Banda Aceh - Indonesia and recalled me to join one of the international NGO whose come to help Aceh, of course after my priorities to support and help my parents (whose were the tsunami survivors) were completed. It was Medical Team International, the medical NGO from Portland, who provided me a space to be one of their team member, so that I was able to get involved in giving my support and contribution to my people, family, communities and hometown. Has its specialization in medical and trauma healing, this NGO try its best in providing its services. We worked in 9 villages, whose were the victims of tsunami. We met lots of traumatized people, parents, children and elderly. We met tears, pains, suffers, and hopeless. There were a huge lesson learnt for me, whose in the education background is far from this knowledge. I learnt from the team about how to play and build a solid team work.How provide a trauma healing as well. I learnt from the situation, the communities, the survivors, and from the environment. I wrote them into my word documents. Yes, tsunami was my turning point, from a business oriented person (previously working as a chemical engineer in a big and famous paint industry in Medan - Indonesia), turned into humanity sector, become a humanitarian worker. And...? It was amazed me a lots! This feeling was so so so.... ! Ah, I can not express this feeling into the words. I found amazing sensation anytime I met the smiles from these survivors. From the kids there. Ah. This was my turning point from an engineer become a writer and humanitarian worker! Then, a colleague of mine, Heidy, introduced me to blogging, since she knew that I love writing, and have some notes in my word documents folder. >"Kak (Sister), you should have blog, it's interesting to write there. You will meet your reader, you will be able to have interaction with your reader in the column of comment of the blog. It's awesome! Excitedly and dramatically, I created 6 blogs at once, in 2009! LOL. The first blog is for [motivation](htpp://alaikaabdullah.com), second is for [fiction](http://fiksi.alaikaabdullah.com), third is for [english sharing](http://info.alaikaabdullah.com), fourth for [health info](http://tips.alaikaabdullah.com), fifth is for [business](https://randomnote.space) and the sixth is for [mystery zone story](http://zonamisteri-1.blogspot.co.id/). Crazy! Yea, I know! LOL. I am addicted in blogging, but since my busy working time, of course I have to put my priority. [My Virtual Corner](http://www.alaikaabdullah.com) then chosen as my main blog, where I put some category in there to cover any topic I share. Another blogs left behind, but of course I still writing there when I am available. >I believe that sharing is caring, and there is lots of lesson learnt we got in this life, which could be from our own experience or even others. I love to share those all into 'My Virtual Corner" to let my readers is able to have the insight or absorb the things I shared. <center>**At this point, I would love to say that writing is not only a self healing, but also a sharing page. 😊 It is also a way to record our life, right?**</center> ## My Blogging Achievement .png) As I said, blogging and writing is a self healing, a soul therapy for me. I keep doing this activities, especially blogging, maintaince my blogs and learn about website management as well. I also participated in some writing contests hold by brands or agencies or blogger communities. To be the winner of the contest is not my target, since my participation is more to challenge my self to write about the topic requested. But, some contests I came out as one of the winner! Yeayy! <center></center> <center>This is one of my achievement in blogging, being selected as the winner of Srikandi Blogger (the queen of blogger contest), hold by ACER Indonesia and KEB Community, 2013.</center> By the time passed, I also monetize my blogs, so that I often get the paid review job offered and also invited to be the speaker for creative writing. Amazingly, I do love this writing world! Day by days I realized that this is my passion. That's why I could write easily, especially the topic I love. Then the question comes up. Are you a writer, All? I will say YES. I am the writer with my own way, on my own writing style. Event though I have never write on newspaper. I have never tried it, since I don't wanna be a journalist. I love personal writing as the way I have already involved with so far. I love writing and will keep doing it by my own writing style. **How and why I love my writing style?** I am not interested in formal writing, but..., if I have to follow this rule, such as when I have to make a jurnal, a report or proposal, I will follow the rules. But right now, people will love more the creative writing technic rather than the old ones. People was tired with their routines business already, so, I am thinking not to share them a 'heavy' article with 'heavy' language that consume their energy to think a lots while reading my article. I believe that event a heavy topic will be able to produce as an interesting and light article to read. I used to write a heavy topic for a contest. It was about the argument on "Adam and the ancient man, who comes first?". So, I will be my self, using my own writing style so that my loyal readers will recognized me where ever I wrote on. 😊 ## My Indie Publisher Establishment, for publishing my Selingan Semusim Novel .png) Most of writers or bloggers, of course hoping to have their book published. So do I. Since I have added some chapters more to the draft of Selingan Semusim Novel, I have a high expectation to my self, that I have to make this draft being a real novel! In the other hand, I realized that it is not easy to reach the major publisher attention. Who am I? Just a personal blog writer/blogger. But, I keep the hope. There are lots of indie publishing that will help this dream comes true. One night, when I searched for the indie publishing for my novel publication, I got an idea to establish my own publisher. Then I searched for the cost for this establishment, which was affordable. Wow! Amazingly, this spirit kept me on fire. One day after, I reached a friend whose are the public notary. And "SmartGarden Publishing and Printing' was chosen as the name and established! Alhamdulillah. <center>.png)</center> Amazingly, the project of Selingan Semusim Novel publication taught me a lots of valuable things. I learned about Adobe In-Design to make the novel layout. That was my first time doing that, and directly to my first novel. LOL. I also did my own editing, that's why no wonder when you met lots of typo there, haha. I was a newbie whose have a huge of hope and ambition to let this novel comes up! To short the story, Selingan Semusim is my first novel that I wrote, edited, layouted as well as marketing them by myself. It was published using my own indie publishing as well. Sounds ambitious, ha? Nope. The idea was, how to cut the budget. Printing out 1000 of books were cheaper rather than printing them out as amount of 100 books, right? The strategy was, I have to sell about 300 books, @. IDR. 35,500 to get my budget return. And...? Yes, this is the power of networking. Thanks, God that I have lots of friends and loyal blog readers. I contacted them personally, informed them that I will bring my Selingan Semusim Fiction (some chapters I posted on my fiction blog), into the hard copy (novel) and offered them in case they willing to buy one. And, yes! I got 250 books pre-order. Yeayyy! I dared my self to go to the book printing company, looking for the cheapest one. Then make 1000 exemplars of Selingan Semusim Novel comes true. Yes! Meanwhile, I made some promotion through my social media accounts, and getting surprised to received emails from the unknown person, ordered my novel. Wow! Amazing. I am speechless. I am thankful that God gives me lots of friends whose support the promotion, through their blog, social media account or event by telling directly to their friend. This is the power of networking and friendship!  Wow, I have shared you a long story of my journey. Ops. Sorry to make you getting bored since it gonna this long. 😁 How ever, I just wanna say that writing is truly a soul therapy, and also the way to record my life as well as a sharing page. Founding blogs made my writing skill improved, I got my bravery to publish my book and established my indie publishing company, and now, I met steemit. As a newbie here, I am still learning how to play safe and enjoyable in this platform. As I love writing a lots, of course, steemit will be my media to share my though, feeling and meaningful article. Suppot me to keep this willingness, steemians! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿😊 **What would I do if I am inside?" This is my last paraghraph, I hope. Haha. Participating in this quest, is one of my way to participate in the event, as well as be the media to accomplish my promised I said in the earlier paragraph. If I was chosen to be one of the participant in the Sndbox Summer Camp, I will use this opportunity to learn more about the education on writing provides in the summer camp and actively involved in the projects, and will use this opportunity to also support steemians to be more productive in writing, by open an online of offline class about creative writing, as well as trying to facilitate them to make (at least e-book or e-novel), and they may used my indie publishing company for submitting the isbn (International Standard Book Number). I love to see more friends/steemians getting their dream comes true (publish their book). The overal goal is I wanna improve my writing skill but keeping my writing style, and being a novelist as well as a recognized writer. I am absolutely sure that writing is my passion, and doing a job with passion is a perfect match, right? In the other hand, I also wanna help my steemians/writer friend in achieving their goal as I mentioned in the paragraph above. Hm, well! Since it is become longer and will be longer, I have to stop it now. Anyway, as this sharing is also the answers to my steemians friend who asked me to share them my writing journey, I do hope that this will be able to give you some insight, ya!
