Roosegaarde has come up with an innovative plan to tackle Beijing’s air pollution problem – and in doing so, turn a health hazard into a thing of beauty.

The Smog Free Project is a some sort of vacuum cleaner tower for smog. These 7 m tall towers suck up the smog in the air, cleans it in a nao-level, and from carbon particles creates crystal jewelry.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IWaSHJCE80

The Smog Free Tower uses patented ion technology to produce smog-free bubbles of public space, allowing people to breathe and experience clean air for free.

Creating a tangible souvenir, Roosegaarde designed Smog Free Rings, Smog Free Cubes and Smog Free Cufflinks of compressed smog particles. By sharing Smog Free Jewellery, you donate 1000m3 of clean air to the city.

https://www.studioroosegaarde.net/uploads/images/2015/09/05/2037/2037-6291-image.jpeg

The first test of the project was in Rotterdam, and after the success now is coming to China. Supported by China's Ministry of Environmental Protection the Smog Free Project China Tour will start in September 2016.

http://aasarchitecture.com/wp-content/uploads/Smog-Free-Project-by-Studio-Roosegaarde-06.jpg

#China #Technology #Environment
