The Problem With "Anything Is Possible"

"Anything is possible!" screamed the go-getter.

"Impossible is nothing!" shouted the guy who follows a no-excuses mantra.

"If he/she can do it, so can you." so said the speaker on stage.

And then... without fail, all of these guys would start to talk about the legend of the dude who did the 4-Minute Mile.

Boom! Like, shit! Everybody in the entire planet thought it was impossible, but someone did it!

Therefore...

Anything is possible, right?

Wrong.

There're many problems when it comes to trying to achieve the so-called impossible.

And it has everything to do with you.

The idea that "anything" can make you idealistic and naive because you should be focusing on "something" instead that is suited for you.

The idea that others along with their achievements were a combination of hard work and other uncontrollable factors like luck, timing and circumstances.

The idea that some things are actually impossible and therefore you really shouldn't waste your time on them.

The idea that people advocating the possibility of the impossible are just lying to you so you can buy their bullshit.

The idea that coming in second place is also pretty awesome i.e. even though you didn't hit your goal fully, what you've achieved or created so far isn't just good, but essential in your endeavours.

The idea that it's crucial for you to go at your own pace and certainly not compare your success with others'.

Truly, not everything is meant to be achieved.

Oh, I may sound rather cynical, but I am simply trying to say that one ought to be realistic.

And the idea that anything is possible is definitely not realistic at all.

Work on yourself.

Work at your own pace.

Focus on your own goals and stop comparing them with others because they are completely unrelated.

Understand that the elements of luck, circumstances and timing you experience are special things you need to experience as they come to you. In other words, it will happen as long as you keep moving forward.

Finally, know that it's actually important to give up and call it quits, for something else out there is meant for you instead.

Good luck.
