Apple is slowing down old iPhones: Here's why it might not be as bad as it seems to be
It's not a secret that smartphones tend to lose a certain amount of battery capacity after a few years of constant usage. Usually, phone makers do nothing about this problem and the phones' battery life decreases. *Not the case with the Apple.*

Company decided to be radical this time and took an interesting approach on aforementioned problem: the iOS lowers processor clock speed in the units with weared-down battery. Here is the evidence by Reddit user TeckFire and his iPhone 6s before and after battery replacement:

Interestingly enough, iPhone 5s and 7 do not use this algorithm, while 6 and 6s do. If you are a user of iPhone 6 or 6s, you can install CpuDasherX to see if your iPhone's actual frequency matches the numbers stated by Apple.
