One of the world's oldest Bitcoin exchanges , BTC-e is still down , with Reuters Business news service reporting the arrest of a Russian man associated with BTC-e in Greece. The Reuters tweet can be found here: https://twitter.com/ReutersBiz/status/890232366370893825 Bitcoin news service Coindesk has also speculated that the arrested man, Alexander Vinnik, could be one of the administrators of the BTC-e site, known only as Alexander. The coindesk article with (slightly) more info can be found here: https://www.coindesk.com/btc-e-connected-bitcoin-money-laundering-arrest-greece/ While the sharing of first name doesn't present anything close to evidence and Reuters cite 'unnamed sources', the arrest does coincide with both BTC-e's "unscheduled maintenace" and the recent closure of the darkweb's Alphabay. If I had had BTC in the BTC-e exchange I would be starting to entertain the possibility that the coins are gone. What are your thoughts? How much did people have on the exchange?
