Today I've heard in the news, that one guy who wrote pages on the German Automotive industry has passed away. Erhard Schnell, can be linked to the successful and sporty times of Opel. Yes, he had a lot of American influence in his designs, but it was an interesting counter to Fords models in Europe. He did design the Opel GT, which is the Corvette of Europe and also the first Manta, which shall be a counter to Fords Capri/Mustang. We can say that he created the sport legacy at Opel. Opel is now PSA and has lost long time ago it's charm. I almost got an opel Record from the 70', but the owner did not want to lower the price with 250€, so I did not buy it. Now I'm kind of sorry as it's value tripled in the past 15 years. --- But let's go back to Mr. Schnell. It is sad to see another German icon designer go. Well,if you think about German design you need to think about Apple, even if Ivy is not German, he got strong inspiration from the Braun design which was done by Dieter Rams, who luckily is still alive. --- Fare well Mr. Schnell
