we have often heard of the Bermuda triangles that exist in the ocean, the territory of the Atlantic Ocean covering 1.5 million mil2 or 4 million km2 forming a triangle line between Bermuda, the territory of Great Britain as a point to the north, Puerto Rico, the territorial United States as point to the south and Miami, the state of Florida, USA as a point to the west.

Recently, researchers discovered a strange region in space just above Brazil, in Earth orbit, where if it crossed the area, the computers at the International Space Station routinely crashed, telescopes and satellites were damaged, and astronauts reported seeing odd lights blinking in front of their eyes. Although this area is technically referred to as The South Atlantic Anomaly, some people call it the "Bermuda Triangle in Space".

this is unlike the Bermuda Triangle myth, which has been officially refuted by NOAA, in fact, there is nothing mysterious or unintelligible about the Bermuda Triangle of Space (SBT). Scientists recognize it does exist, and have begun to map its boundaries.

This anomaly is part of the Van Allen Radiation Belt, a ring of solar radiation trapped between about 1,000 and 6,000 kilometers above the planet's surface. The reason for SBT exists because Earth's magnetic field is not uniform; there are weak points. In one such weak spot where SBT is located. This is where the radiation from outer space can penetrate relatively close to the surface of the earth.

Recently an Italian team of scientists was able to calculate the boundaries of the SBT by re-analyzing data recorded by a decade-old satellite, called BeppoSAX, which routinely passes through the region. They found that the radiation levels in the lower layers of the SBT were much less than in the upper layers and that the anomaly was slowly drifting westward. Each year approximately 34 kilometers closer to the western edge of Africa, meaning that in the year 2114, the SBT will be centered somewhere near the coast of Namibia.

Although these results are largely congruent to previous studies, they do not offer a more detailed picture of what is happening in Earth's magnetosphere. By having a clearer understanding of the boundaries of the SBT, the space agency can more effectively manage the sensitive equipment available on the International Space Station and on satellites that often pass through the region.

The good news is that beach visitors in Brazil need not be afraid because this danger area is a few hundred kilometers above their heads. The radiation bands present in the SBT do enter relatively close to the surface of the earth there but do not really stretch to the land. The radiation levels below 200 kilometers there are mostly the same as anywhere else on Earth.
