How long have you been searching for happiness? When was the last time you felt happy and serene? How do you perceive happiness and How far happiness is? .jpg) The quest for happiness is as old as humanity itself. Through years each person’s ultimate endeavour is to feel happy and content. No matter what exactly he sought after, it would lead him eventually to happiness. For each civilization and geographical territory people were on their quest for happiness. Through this quest others managed to reach power, control and money by convincing people that they held keys to ultimate, everlasting happiness. Some people are searching for happiness in power; others search in fame, others in wealth, health, religion and relationships. Some take pride in their ethnicity, others in their colour, others in wealth, others in religions and others in the sports team they feel to belong to. The irony is that among all this chaos happy people do exist with no sign of owning any of what others believe is important for happiness. Those happy people aren’t even noticed because they live simply and have no tendency to brag about anything and this is part of why they are happy. Let yourself understand that happiness is the natural state of being. If you don’t believe try remembering when you were a kid just before you taught that you need this or that to be happy. Happiness for you lied then in the simplest of things or in nothing at all. Then you start learning about money, relationships, fame and other things and you innocently tied happiness to these things. Society kept emphasizing that without these things you will become miserable and you became. Actually it works in the opposite way; the more you seek in life the less you feel happy. And the good feeling you get directly after reaching what you want doesn’t come necessarily from what you reached rather it comes because you finally discarded the desire to reach it. So, what about not developing the desire in the first place? What you need now is to unlearn what you have been taught about happiness, to train yourself to untie happiness from both material and immaterial things and just let it be, to get closer and closer to whom you truly were before conditioning, to be kind to yourself and to know that you are worthy the way you are and no external thing can affect your worthiness. There is no effort for happiness because happiness is as close as what you believe. Thank you for reading and hope you have found value in this article. Your feedback is much welcomed.
