My Hero Academia Rising was a great movie and a great addition to the anime. Definitely should check it out if you are a big fan of the anime. Personally, I like the action sequence but I think the overall anime offers way more depth as compared to the movie. However, one thing that got me thinking about the movie is how it separates effort and talent so very well.

Talent & Effort

Often, we place a huge emphasis on talent and genetics. We feel that people who are blessed with better height tend to do better in certain sports. As a swimmer, having longer hands and legs does help in gaining a slight advantage over my opponents. However, that is n't always the case. At times, effort does play a role in gaining an advantage over others.

From the anime, there is another aspect that takes away talent and effort. You see, Midoriya, the protagonist of the anime has both talent and effort. Although you can argue that the one for all is not exactly talent, but it does give him an edge over his opponents. Also, who can argue against the effort that he has put in to be a better hero.

The thing is, despite all these talents and effort that he has put in, he still is not the best. In fact, he lost pretty badly to his senior and some of his weaker opponents. You can chalk that up to ruthlessness or even experience. But, being around these 'stronger' opponents and peers does help. As the anime progresses, you will find that he does get stronger and stronger. So what does this mean?

The Stronger the People Around You, The Better You Become

I find that over time, the people around you will make you stronger. It's a lot like Midoriya where he gets better as he deals with his peers and opponents who are far better than him. He could easily give up but his grit and effort do make him better as time goes by.

That is really the point at getting better at your craft or studies. I find that as you surround yourself with people who are truly excellent, you will find yourself emulating them, striving more to be as good as them. I remember being sent to a National training camp for swimming. It was tough and demotivating especially if everyone is beating you at camp.

However, as time went by, my skills slowly improved. I got better, far better than I would have managed if I just trained on my own.

Conclusion

In conclusion, do watch my hero academia rising. It's a great movie. Also, if you have the opportunity, do take the opportunity to surround yourself with people who are talented and better. It is through exposure with these talented individuals that you will truly reach your fullest potential.
