@lillywilton put up a Dtube post 15 days ago with a piece of live music that she recorded, just her voice and guitar. the post is here. https://steemit.com/music/@lillywilton/jxpp6zny

The song caught me right away, it's just really catchy and rather cool! I mentioned in my reply to her post that I would like to attempt to add a couple of tracks to it, if it was ok with her, to see what I could come up with. She graciously sent me a copy of the audio to work with, which I really appreciate!

I haven't been in the mood to work on music for the last couple of weeks, but this afternoon, the mood struck me, so I fired up Audacity and loaded the song into it. After listening to it a bunch of times and trying out different things, I came up with a basic bass track that seemed to fit the song well. I didn't want to complicate the bass track, I wanted it to be a background track that might enhance the song instead of overpowering it. After Recording it probably a dozen times, I finally got a pretty good take that sounded the way I wanted it to.

Then I decided that I wanted to try putting a harmony vocal onto the song. That was a bit more difficult because I had to figure out how to sing it. I wanted to do a higher harmony but there was no way, I couldn't hit some of the notes. So, the next thing I worked on was a lower harmony, that was working out better for my vocal range. I finally worked out a simple harmony that seemed to work well for the song. Once I got the harmony vocal recorded, I added a bit of echo to it for a little depth.

I thought about adding a bit of percussion, but I don't have a tambourine right now, and that was what I had in mind, so I ended up just putting 2 tracks on the song. I had thought about adding a guitar track when I first started working with the song, but I decided that I didn't want to muddy up the song with too many tracks, sometimes less is more.

I uploaded the finished song to my soundcloud page, that's the easiest way for me to share my music to steemit.

This isn't quite a #coverasteemian post, it's more of a "compilation with a steemian" post. :-)

I will, of course, be splitting the payout for this post with Lilly, so I hope people will like it and upvote the heck out of it!
