Showcase - sunday - Unwritten tales from the workshop
When people ask me what I do I usually say I am a sculptor because it is what I have spent the vast amount of my time doing since I left college but to me I am a Maker, I have many different interests and just like making things. So far on Steem I have been mainly sharing about my sculpture work but now and again I have shared glimpses of my other pursuits. These are usually just what I would call a (Plog) a photo and a bit of text just to let people know what I am up to in my studio/ workshop.
I have never really gone into great depth about any of the projects, trying instead to keep my blog more focused on sculpture. I am still documenting all of these pieces and will, when the time is right make proper posts explaining them in full but for showcase Sunday this week I would like to show you some of the projects I have been doing the last two years..

### Metal framework for topiary
One of my first projects in my then new workshop was to create a metal framework for topiary. The client was everyone's favourite social media company ;-) for their office in London. I had made two previously for them and they liked it so much they wanted another. Creating their famous logo in 3D had its challenges and to be honest I am not really sure if I should mention them by name in case it comes under some sort of nondisclosure agreement. I the end I am happy to say that the client gave it the thumbs up and I am probably one of the only content creators who ever made money from them.

### Bespoke Planters
This seems to be something I am doing more and more of, Planters for different clients. This was a big job again for London. I had to use a cheaper material than I would have liked but the client wanted to skimp as much as possible. When you are making woodwork for outdoors you really need to think like a boat builder and even though I protested their decision on materials across many emails they only wanted cheap wood. The planters were only up a couple of weeks before the wood started to warp just as I told them. I still got paid but i really hate putting in all that effort for a doomed job.

### Secret Door
I enjoyed this project even though it took ages. I was busy with other things and the client is a cool and understanding friend. She wanted me to hid one of her living room doors as a bookcase. It took some very complex building to make it look so simple but the results were cool. At a later date I will make the full post and include designs.

### I just got Lathe
The friend from above's father was kind enough to give me loads of old tools he had to outfit my new studio. Although I have limited experience with lathe work he gave me this, a combined lathe and milling machine for metal. I really look forward to learning the skills involved but still need to buy some parts to set it up correctly. It is a tool I have always wanted but could never justify the payment for because it is not something I would use every day. When I get some free time I hope to post about my learning adventures.

### Fiber glass
An amazing material but horrible to work with, Here are some planters I made from Fiberglass and resin. They were really a pain in the arse to make and I lost all profit on them due to material costs but, I proved I could do it and learned valuable lessons along the way.

### Studio/ workshopless
I had a great workshop for a very cheap price until the day came that the owner decided to sell. I had only a couple of weeks to finish lots of projects and get out. Long hours and difficult logistics were needed to get everything done and pack away all my tools till I can get a new workplace and that is pretty much where I am at the moment. This was my last project finished the day before I was out on my ear.
My tools have all been brought to a small shed at my family home. I am still searching for a new workshop and feel I am getting closer everyday.
As I get older I can see myself becoming a bigger part of the maker community and posting about my antics online, until that day I still have so much I want to make and show. These posts are more teasers of what is to come when I finally run out of sculpture content to share.
I'll leave you with these thought from myself
