Surrealism is an artistic and literary movement founded in 1924, marked and developed by the First World War. It is based mainly on the distortion of reality, or in other words, the way to express ideas of the unconscious, dreams or fantasies. It was captured in painting, literature, photography, sculpture and film with the aim of entering into the depths of thought, thus developing techniques with the motive of free creation that leaves aside the reality, placing itself on top of existence, becoming an aid and new area of study for psychology.

The greatest representative of surrealism is Salvador Dali, an egocentric artist of cinema, painting, sculpture and engraving. He participated with many important collaborators of his time, he was a person conscious of saying that although he did not understand his art, it did not mean that he did not have it. And although he has many works to talk about, I will only mention galatea .

Galatea is a painting based on his interest in science, exploitation and his wife. In 1945 a nuclear bomb fell on Japan, arousing curiosity about Dali's nuclear energy, so much so that he made studies on the subject. In this work we can observe how, through spheres and an optical illusion, he gave form to what would be the image of his wife. These spheres represent atoms in the creation of the universe or the being itself. It is evident in the work that several spheres are in movement, which represents the matter, which as he explains in his mystical manifesto, as the matter is in constant process and accelerated dematerialization. It is a quick view of the beginning and end of a whole.

It was captured in 1945 in the support of oil on canvas, his main interest in making the work was to represent the antimatter of nuclear physics. He always based his creations on the theories of Sigmund Freud, but in this case he would also base his work on the research of Dr. Werner Heisenberg, a well-known specialist in nuclear physics. After entering the subject, he would only demonstrate his obsession with such investigations, a notorious feature in several of his works of this era.

The name of the work is due to Gala Dali, wife of the painter, also galatea refers to a sea nymph, recognized by its virtue in classical mythology. Incredible all the research that I carried out to make a painting, just reminds us that we must strive more if we want to become memorable.
