<div class="text-justify"> First of all, I´d like to wish everyone a happy new year, let´s hope 2023 is full of cool surprises and less bad things, 2022 wasn´t especially a good year for me so I hope this one is better or just a chill year. I played GTA V since december past year and I decided to take my time while playing this game since it´s ¨open world¨, besides, I´ve never been a GTA person myself, I´ve got a bittersweet experience with the franchise, I´ve played GTA IV and actually liked it but I couldn´t complete it because of the bad optimization on pc, I tried the remastered collection and it sucked. I just completed GTA V yesterday, so yeah, I managed to complete the game, the first GTA game I actually beat, so I want to share my thoughts on the game, taking into account that I´m not blinded by nostalgia. GTA V takes place in three lines of argument: Michael, Trevor and Franklin. Each character is interesting by theirself and the chemistry between them is actually cool, the problem is that I felt like maybe having three characters to develop through the story wasn´t a good idea because for most of the time the story doesn´t even know what to do with Franklin, the main character of the game is supposed to be Michael and even so he has no character development or something, at the ending, he remains the same as the begining, Trevor is really interesting because he is a literal psychopath but the story doesn´t do much with that either, but he is probably the best character of the game. GTA V society serves as a reflect of our own society, meaning that people from the game try to act like us in real life but with a lot of satire, what I´m trying to say is that GTA V society feels more as a 2013 people satire, it´s something you can see as you interact with NPC or important characters through the game, said characters or NPC´s act like they were at that time but with an exaggerated personality, almost like a flanderization. Maybe, that´s why even the main characters are not deepened through the story, maybe because they serve just as a parody of characters that you would see in tv shows like Breaking Bad or idk films like Scarface. I have no problems if a story doesn´t want to take itself too seriously or just wants to serve as a parody or satire of certain themes but that´s not impediment to write a good narrative or story with social criticism, it doesn´t have to go that far but seriously, most of the times I felt like the story of the game didn´t know where to go or whenever there was an actual conflict between the characters it was easily resolved. As I said before, I have no problem if a story wants to be a comedy or doesn´t want to take itself to seriously but that´s no excuse, the game sometimes talk about themes like state corruption, the war on drugs, how the past can chase you and so on, but the game doesn´t do anything interesting with that all, it´s just there. Still, I can´t deny how fun this game is, I´d like to say first that the graphics are amazing, not in an artistic style, but damn, I can´t believe this is a videogame from 2013, even for today standars, it looks pretty great, what can I say, it has aged really good. As I said, the game is pretty fun, the missions have a good variety like robbing a bank, using helicopters, killing some people because why not, I don´t know, there´s a good variety and how the game actually makes you to complete said missions sometimes it can get pretty creative. I remember this mission where you are using Trevor and the game makes you to torture someone for real and I think that was the first time I tortured someone in a videogame lol it felt uncomfortable but that´s the point, there were a lot of ways of how you could torture this fella. I like the fact that the game tries to make you do many different things from mission to mission and that was so cool. If there is something I liked about GTA V was its epic feeling through the missions, the adrenaline of being in a battlefield with a lot of guns and policemen, the game feeling while using the weapons is quite great, using the scenario to explode things was indeed an exciting experience while you are killing everyone. Using my weapons to destroy a helicopter or destroy cars with explosions was genuinely fun and I did it everytime I could, felt like I was in an action movie or something like that. In GTA V you can do as much as you like, you can use helicopters, using boats, skydiving, racing with others npc on the street, going to a brothel, I think you get the point, there is indeed a big quantity of things to do in GTA V in its big open world. For example, an activity that resulted hilarious to me was going to the movies and you can actually watch a film which is supossed to be a parody to art film, not gonna lie I watched the whole film and was laughing all the time. Of course, all of this sounds good but that until you start to see some problems, as for me, I found GTA V to be excessively repetitive, it´s a shame to have a big world like that and just use it to go from point A to point B, there is no way to interact with the city or its NPC´s, they are just there, yeah, you can interact with NPC´s by killing or harassing them but that´s all, as for the city, it´s boring to explore, there is nothing to do unless you are doing a mission or a side activity, really a shame, at the begining you feel amazed but with some hours you just put the map and go to the destination, just paying attention to the map and not the city, because as I said, it´s boring to explore. I noticed that the game is quite restrictive, when you are given a mission you have to do exactly as the game commands you, there were instances when I wanted to do things as I wanted and the game just punished me with the ¨Wasted¨ screen, the game offers you freedom, but you see this freedom is really restricted, the game takes you a lot by the hand, treating you sometimes like you were a little kid that doesn´t know anything. True, there are certain activities to do but I don´t feel like the game rewards me for doing so, I mean, you can buy properties but what´s the point of that, I don´t even need the money, the game is quite generous with it, with just one big robbery I can basically do more than enough, I can buy weapons but there´s no need for that, I can just get new ones in the missions, I can upgrade my cars but again there is no need for that, Frankling is given at the begining of the game a really good car, and guess what, I can just rob another car which is better, he´s given a new house for doing the missions, what´s even the point lol. The side activities are fun when you do them once, you do it a second or third time and will get bored of it real fast. GTA V was released at 2013, it was a time when open world games were just big maps with a lot of markers, style over sustance basically. I understand that at its time GTA V was probably the peak of open world games, but nowadays its world feels pretty archaic and I can´t blame them, I mean, it´s 2023 already, it´s been almost ten years but I don´t know, I just think the genre is redefined and games like GTA V feel like no big ideal for obvious reasons. If I´m honest, GTA V felt to me like the equivalence to an Assasin´s Creed from that era, obviously, you are able to do more things here. Don´t get me wrong, I liked GTA V but it´s not the perfect game that everyone claims to be, it has aged like wine graphically speaking, but not that much when we talk about its mechanics, it was a little paradogic to see this big city with a lot of people and feeling it so empty and boring. I´ll say it again, I had fun doing the missions but I felt a fatigue doing everything else, not a bad game tho. Playing GTA V has motivated me to return to GTA 4 and play other GTA games. In summary, it´s been like ten years, Rockstar needs a new GTA soon, oh wait, they don´t, because GTA V still sells really good.</div> >***All of the screenshots were taken by me***
