Are you forthcoming with compliments?
Have you ever noticed how another person smiles and engages in conversation when you say kind words? Genuinely complimenting someone you know at work, the gym or at yoga class or the next door neighbour is one of the nicest, perhaps the most magical things you can do for another. No kidding. It is very easy to compliment others on their wellness, outfits, smiles, their gardens or how lovely they do their jobs etc. The list is endless.

Simply being generous with your words gives you the power to produce psychological and physiological highs in not only the receiver but also you, the giver. It is a win-win. Have you felt the injection of happiness when you say something nice to another? It is very common for complimentary giver to see the person light up and start chatting. A positive connection has been made, maybe a friendship that has gone to a more intimate level.

Even when you have a connection during a one of meeting with a stranger giving a compliment is the easiest thing to do. You may even get a compliment back and then you both move on feeling a little lighter and happier for a while.

But beware, giving compliments requires circumspection, the ability to be careful and discerning. When to say something and when not to and to whom is all part of our sixth sense, our intuition. it is the plain truth that connecting with every person you pass or stand beside does not takes place. It just does not feel right.

Sometimes a smile or a good day is all that is needed. We all have our own ways of connecting with others, it has to do with who we are, our personalities, how we perceive our lot in life. There is no right or wrong, no black or white. It just is.

My accumulation of wisdom has played a role in this post, I have learned as I have walked through life and know that giving generously is one of the best feelings there is. I am proudly a #silverblogger willing to learn and more than willing to share.

When on the Camino Portugese, my walking buddy and I sat to rest and play in a field of daises after a hot hard walk up a hill. Now, I look back on these photos with a laugh and a giggle, remembering the fun we had with little daises growing wild in the grass.
