<h4>Cuando vi a este pequeño insecto volador chocando literalmente contra el vidrio de la ventana pude notar su parecido con un saltamontes, por su color verde y sus 2 patas posteriores más largas que el resto. Como tengo las herramientas necesarias para identificar cualquier tipo de insecto, encontré rápidamente su Género <em>Orthotylus</em>, pero me decepcioné al saber que existen al menos 300 especies descritas en todo el planeta, por lo que no es tarea fácil determinar el nombre científico de este tipo de artrópodo que llega a medir alrededor de 5 o 7 mm de longitud.</h4>

When I saw this small flying insect literally crashing against the window glass I could notice its resemblance to a grasshopper, because of its green color and its 2 hind legs longer than the rest. As I have the necessary tools to identify any type of insect, I quickly found its Genus <em>Orthotylus</em>, but I was disappointed to learn that there are at least 300 described species all over the planet, so it is not an easy task to determine the scientific name of this type of arthropod that reaches about 5 or 7 mm in length.

<h4>Sus ojos están dispuestos sobre su cabeza y hacia los lados, mientras que las antenas se encuentran proyectadas hacia el frente de su cabeza y son tan largas como sus patas posteriores. Muchas especies de chinche del Género Orthotylus son de color verde oscuro, pero existen otras tonalidades que las hacen diferenciar entre las 300 especies reportadas. Este pequeño Hemíptero pertenece a la familia Miridae y se encuentra distribuida en todos los continentes, por lo que a mí me corresponde es señalar el avistamiento de este espécimen en Venezuela, ubicada en la zona norte de América del Sur.</h4>

Many species of bugs of the genus Orthotylus are dark green in color, but there are other shades that differentiate them among the 300 reported species. <h4>Este artrópodo se le conoce como el <em>Chinche de las plantas</em>, ya que los biólogos encuentran una forma de identificar a las especies según la planta huésped del insecto. Aunque también es diferenciable el color de su cabeza (amarillo, verde o marrón), en cuanto al dimorfismo sexual se ha establecido que el macho de cada especie es más alargado, con el primer segmento de la antena más oscurecido; normalmente la antena presenta 4 segmentos de diferentes longitudes. La hembra tiene el cuerpo más ovalado y el vientre es más abultado.</h4>

This arthropod is known as the <em>Plant Bug</em>, since biologists find a way to identify the species according to the insect's host plant. Although the color of its head (yellow, green or brown) is also distinguishable, in terms of sexual dimorphism it has been established that the male of each species is more elongated, with the first segment of the antenna darker; normally the antenna has 4 segments of different lengths. The female has a more oval body and a more bulging belly.

<h4>Las patas tienen diferente orientación y longitudes, son de color verde, la tibia inferior levemente con un color amarillo y los tarsos son más oscuros, entre negro y marrón.</h4>
