# The Legend of Vox Machina Review
## Up to Season 2 Episode 6

<div class="text-justify">

Greetings, friends. As many of you know, I have been playing dungeons and dragons for years. After joining Hive, I had a lot of articles about it. I shared articles both in the game community, and I shared the minis I 3d printed and the minis I painted in the DIY community.

The source of all of these hobbies is Dnd. Dungeons and dragons has a very big place for me. So is Critical Role. I define myself as a Dnd nerd because I spend almost every day with Dnd, especially in the last 3-4 years, since the corona times. Every day I watch at least one youtube video or read a Dnd related book.

Today I'm going to talk about The Legend of Vox Machina, an animated series that you can find on Amazon, published by Critical Role, a show I love very much.

## It is about the Campaign One

Critical Role is now in its third game/campaign. I didn't watch the whole first game, I was watching it every now and then, or trying to watch it retrospectively.

I can say that I listened to it mostly as a podcast because at that time it was easier for me to consume it that way. But over time, as I researched dnd and decided to make our home game in Exandria, Matt Mercer's universe and world, I started to watch the first game thoroughly.

But my favorite and the one that will always have a different place in my heart is the second campaign. Because it was a dungeons and dragons campaign that was completely published from the beginning and I followed it with pleasure.

Recently, it was announced that the second campaign, The Mighty Nine, will also be animated. But for now, we're talking about what we have, The Legend of Vox Machina.

This animated series is set in a universe where there are dragons, creatures of fire, undead lords and vampires, where magic items can be found, where magic and swords are... plenty.

Everything is very magical if you ask me. In the games I play, magic is not so common and more valuable. In the show, it seems like almost everyone has something to do with magic. Only nameless NPCs don't know anything about magic. They don't seem to matter either.

But this is not a bad thing. That would be my first criticism.
Yes, the Dnd is a very magical universe and it is appropriate for magic to be as widespread as you want it to be.
In our games it is not that common. So it was a bit too much for me.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to go into the details of all the protagonists. To summarize, we have a group consisting of ranger, rouge, barbarian, gunslinger, druid, bard and cleric. They have to save the world. They are all very beautiful characters and have a very special place in my heart.

They are so well set up in the series that they give you many opportunities to love them all. They made sure that the screen time is equal for all of them. Even though episodes 3-6 in the second season are a bit character specific, you can still see the distribution. Except Percy, the gunslinger. It's like we recognized him in the first season and that's it, he's almost the least talked about character in the season 2. I can even claim that he has fewer sentences than some NPCs in some episodes so far (S2E6).

## Favorite Character.

Of course everyone has a favorite character. I had a hard time choosing this one, not because I like them all so much, but because I like the second campaign more. Yeah, I couldn't really connect with the characters here and I don't think they've done that in the show. It's hard to connect with the characters because it has to move so fast. So I would say that I chose Percy because we saw Percy as a story in the first season and I think we understood his motivation better than the others. I can't help thinking that I wish we had seen a few more words of him in the second season.

I love Critical Role and especially the second campaign will have a very different place in my heart. It was very good for me to keep my mental health during the Corona times.

There are many references to dungeons and dragons in the series. Which there should be. From dice shaped stones to some items. Even in some of the sentences that the characters say, you can hear things that they said at the table, at live play, that have become iconic. This was something that old fans wanted to see and they did the right thing by including it.

And don't forget that this series started with a kickstarter and thanks to the fans of Critical Role, it's on air today. So it's really important to people and it's a story that they love. I feel like I haven't said much about the show plot itself, but I feel like whatever I say, I'm going to go into too much detail and give spoilers. I think it's best to keep quiet.

The style and quality of the illustrations are very good. I have to congratulate Critical Role for hiring a really professional team and continuing their work. They've done it and it's hard work.

If you like adult animated series and want to see an adventure in a fantasy world, don't miss this.
In conclusion, if you like any kind of fantasy universe and you want to have fun and experience a story in episodes of 20ish minutes each, I highly recommend it.

>Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoy the show! Please let me know if you are watching and share your thoughts in the comments. I am very curious what other viewers think.
