Explaining the Concept of cluster forking to my son

I, seated on my couch, amidst the plethora of thoughts.
Rocks Clusters and HPC (High Performance Computing) flow through my mind. It is
not like I am a computer specialist, but computer activities are part of what I
do.
I call my son Speed. What do you think when I call your
name?
He responded, “I heard your voice, then I came on time,” he said!
“Why did you name me Speed?” I smiled. “I am a man that likes computing most especially
high performance computing. It is my favourite. I see you as the speed of this generation.
Nothing can stop you. You are like the flash of my business,” I told him. “Have you heard of cluster fork?” and he said no! Cluster
So I said to him, “Let me break it down to your level. Okay…”
I swear to God, it is not hard to understand when he started calling it a
big vocab. “My dear boy, the word cluster means a group of interconnected computers (nodes) working together as a single
system for high-performance tasks.
Think of it as a group of ants being controlled by a mother
ant to destroy Aston Villa.” He smiled, “Yeah, yeah… I grab what you're saying.
So what is a computer node?”
So I responded that Compute Nodes are the individual
computers within the cluster that perform the actual calculations.
“So… forking means launching the specified command on
multiple nodes in parallel.” Imagine a road splitting into many paths – the single instruction is "forking" out to go down all those different computer paths at the same moment.
He smiled… he didn’t really understand.
“You see, Speed. You have to think speed in computing… cluster fork is like a main command centre that commands the operating system to work for you on all the other compute nodes that are connected to your node. Do you understand?”
I used the image above to explain and he loved it.
“Speed, I love you and always try to seek speed.”
Okay!
