The major challenge posing the Bitcoin system today is to find sustainable funding to develop Bitcoin. In this regard, Dovey Wan of Primitive Ventures did her part by collaborating with other people like Bitmain alum Pan Zhibiao and so far has already gathered 50 BTC to form the "Hard Core Fund" which goes on to fund full time independent bitcoin developers.

As funds and more donations have become more available, it is now open to applications from more developers. Prospective applicants can now send their biography information and GitHub profile to Wan’s Primitive Ventures email.

Pan, who helps manage the fund’s daily operations, says

“We are looking for someone who’s got a deep understanding of Bitcoin’s architecture and its existing problems to solve…if he or she can train, coach, or facilitate other developers, propose new BIPs [protocol updates] and new directions for technical improvement, that’s even better"
