Images Below! Back in University just before I discovered digital arts, I had this female friend that wouldn't hesitate to model for me. She was an aspiring student model at the time so I guess it was a bit of win-win for her. This was back when Photography was more my Major that Digital Art. Some months down the line, I get my first graphics tablet and start painting. Now there's this concept that has always been in my head, atleast as at then. To capture what looked like someone peering out of the darkness, a super vignette if that would help explain it better. So I told my friend and she sent me a reference (sadly I no longer have. People, invest in back ups 😭) and I got to work. Side note: In case it's not very clear what my preferred software (more like only software) is, that is Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended. It's all I could lay my hands on. I started with my Sketch Layer and a base color underneath. Then used a grainy brush afterwards for texture. This part is always the easy part. Next I proceeded to adding some Shadows and Highlights. This was the real difficult part because I switched to the textured brush and it refused to give the control I was looking for... Which is something I've noticed to be the case with alot of those kinds of brushes. Perhaps all the settings required to make the brush tend to affect the way it works. Oh well. I was about done and had placed the eyes in properly. Even added some highlights to the shirt she wore. It was a real struggle but while doing it and seeing the progress every five minutes or so while I zoomed in and out on the artboard, I was a little proud won't lie. Bada Bing Bada Boom, it's complete!!! Gave her Strong Smokey Eyes. Really boosted the Highlights and Shadows. Made a Matte effect for the Shadows because I really do love to matte my works and gave the shadows a bit of a blue hue. And Viola. The Artwork Titled: Vignette was created and is now available on my Etsy shop, for people that like to buy art. Here's a link to that. https://www.etsy.com/listing/712895702/home-decor-canvas-print-vignette Side Note: Those are some of the color references I used to make that happen. Pretty odd choices yes, but I wanted to make an impression at the time.
