I learned my lesson that inconsistency hurt me in Steemit. A 'potong stim' story of myself in Steemit

Hello Steemians,

A lot of people in Steemit wrote about how they use Steemit and earn some SBDs. Some post about added features like new software or apps in Steemit platform and how it can help other steemians make their Steemit live easy. Some even post about any current trend happens in Steemit. Some even write about their experience with people in Steemit. To be honest, I like to read about people expressing their new discovery within the platform.

What I would like to write today is about inconsistency and how it slowed down the momentum I had in Steemit. For the past 20 days, I was not really active in commenting and posting content in Steemit. I am not ready to tell the reason why I went AWOL on this platform but I just like to share with all of you what will happen if you 'potong stim' (In Malay it means to stop your progression halfway). You might come across contents talks about Steemit experience mostly talks about how they started and made it in Steemit but mine would be how I made it to Reputation (50) and lose all the momentum I created for the past 3 months.

The first 10 days was complete silence, not only in Steemit but also in virtual networking platform associated with Steemit which is Discord Channels. I did not vote, comment and created content here. As a result, of course, I did not earn any SBD nor my Steem power increase. The next 10 days, I started to create content and commenting and I realise one cold hard truth that I am losing all the momentum that I created as I could not even get a minimum 2SBD per post as I usually get last time. To make things even worse now that this post is the first post since past 4 days. Currently, I have lost my discipline to post one content per day or per two days. I might over exaggerate but I feel kind of need to start all over again to build up the momentum again.

### WHAT IS THE TWO LESSON LEARNED?

# Your Followers are your curators first before they become your friend.

Yes, it is true. Although in a nutshell, it might look easy as you are using other mainstream social networking channels like Facebook and Instagram, the reality is the audience and users here are different. Usually, the friends on Facebook and Instagram is the one that knows you directly and indirectly and connects with your because something about you that interest them you don't even need to create a post, like or comment to remain relevant. In Steemit, that is not the case. Of course, you can make friends with your Steemit followers along the way but one thing that never changes with Steemians are they might be or might not be your friend but one thing they will always be is a **CURATOR**. A curator's role is to curate content and if you don't produce content, they will lose interest in your profile especially if you are a Plankton like me. If you are about to go 'Missing In Action (MIA)', you need to inform your followers before or after your MIA if not some will lose interest and unfollow you.

# It is not easy to make money in Steemit if you don't have focus and time.

The human side of us to make big bucks of SBD or some even call 'Greed' is always there as long you are human. Let's face it we never experienced this kind of platform before. Therefore, we don't know what to expect and sometimes uses our guesses and refer to guidelines by early Steemians. There is no validation of our action in Steemit. Although you don't need to invest a lot of money, the effort and time taken to create content is an investment too. So yes, you need to invest big in Steemit if you want to make it big here. If you can't allocate your time and focus for Steemit, you will end up frustrated, bored and eventually quit half way. However, in my case, I only lose Steem and SBDs.

I hope I can produce more contents after this. I learned that Steemit is not just a social media website. But, it is also like a bank account that produces money from the content. Hence, Steemit need to be managed properly so that we can get the expected result from this platform. Although Steemit became part of my life but I did not put a specific place and space in my life and time. Therefore, I am still figuring and tinkering with how I want to make the best out of Steemit.

In the end, poor management can lead to inconsistency. Do not repeat my mistake. Thank you for reading my post.

[Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. I might be wrong or I might be right. Do share your thoughts on this matter too]
