Yesterday the Rhyhorn Community Day took place. My plans to walk around for the full 3 hours of the event really got messed up badly which was quite unfortunate. I put an alarm on my phone to make sure I'd wake up on time, especially because I had been pretty tired. Turns out that my phone somehow ran out of battery during the night even though I had charged it in the evening. So when I woke up I decided to check my phone to see what time it was, but it showed empty battery icon when I clicked on it which made me panic a bit. I plugged it in to charge and started it up, and when I was able to check the time I felt quite sad and a bit annoyed because my plans got ruined as I overslept quite a lot! Fortunately the event was still going on, so I ate something and prepared to go outside to be able to still catch some Rhyhorn and hopefully encounter some Shiny Rhyhorn as well.

At some point during the event I indeed ran into a Shiny Rhyhorn encounter! I caught it with an Ultra Ball and a Razz Berry to have the best chance of capturing it. This was the only Shiny Rhyhorn I encountered in the time I was able to play, but considering I didn't get to play the full 3 hours I'm glad I was still able to run into one Shiny!

After the event was over and we were done checking some Rhyhorn it was time to trade some Rhyhorn to see if we'd get any good ones out of the trades. Because there is 2 hours after the event ends to still evolve your Pokémon to get the Community Day exclusive move it allows a nice window in which you can trade and check all the ones you have. I didn't count all the trades I did. Out of the trades I did do I was able to get 5 Lucky Rhyhorn. And one of these was definitely an amazing sight. I knew what CP it had to be from the trade to be a 100% so when I checked my phone after the trade was done I was slightly shocked as I saw a Lucky Rhyhorn with the CP it had to be. That was a great trade for sure, and it's already a high level Rhyhorn too!

Prior to the Community Day I already had a Lucky 100% Rhyhorn that I got from a trade with another friend a few months ago when we were trading some Pokémon while walking back from a Raid. So I was already planning to evolve that one after the event, now my plans had changed to not only evolving that one but also the one I got from trading after the event. In the next picture you can see the Lucky and Shiny Rhyhorn than I had after the event was over. I already transferred the other Lucky Rhyhorn I got after the event, because they were all lower IV. I also included both of those Lucky 100% Rhyhorn and the picture of the Rhyperior they became after evolving them.

When I evolved that 1415 CP Rhyhorn it turned into a 3200 CP Rhyperior. Which is already really high, due to its level. A maxed out 100% Rhyperior can reach 3733 CP though so there was still a way to go with powering it up. In the next picture you can see my Rhyperior after I was done evolving them. Before the event I had only 1 Rhyperior, a 100% that I caught in the wild back in 2018. Which has already been a maxed out Rhyperior for a long time, with a Ground-type moveset having Mud-Slap and Earthquake. The other 5 Rhyperior in the list are all evolved in the 2 hours after the Community Day so they can have the Community Day exclusive move Rock Wrecker.

In the picture you can see both of those Lucky 100% Rhyperior that were seen earlier, only now in this picture I maxed both of them are they are now also at 3733 CP. Thanks to this Community Day move Rock Wrecker, Rhyperior has now become one of the best Rock-type attackers. Ramparados still outperforms in damage, but Rhyperior is much bulkier so it can stay alive longer. I also don't really have any proper Cranidos yet so I didn't invest in getting a Ramparados yet. So for me it was definitely good to invest in these Rhyperior.

That's why I also evolved another Lucky 98% Rhyhorn and a 96% Rhyhorn into Rhyperior. I lack the Rhyhorn Candy to max both of these right now, but with the move being an exclusive move to Community Day and it not returning until December I decided to evolve them.

The last Rhyperior in the list is one that I got with pretty good stats and the correct distribution to hit exactly 2500 CP if I powered it up quite a lot more. Making it fit right in for the Ultra League which has a cap of 2500 CP. That's why I decided to also evolve that one to be able to test it out in those battles every now and then. If it proves to be really good I may end up teaching it a 2nd Charged Attack so it can have Rock Wrecker and perhaps Earthquake. I'll have to see about that.

As you can see from my list of Rhyperior I don't have any Shiny Rhyperior. That's because I only caught 1 Shiny Rhyhorn which unfortunately had quite bad IVs. Because I only caught one Shiny I didn't want to trade it either as I would prefer trading it during a Lucky Trade then to have a high chance for really good IVs. I still have a chance to encounter more Shiny Rhyhorn by December when all of this year's Community Day Pokémon will return.

How did your Rhyhorn Community Day go?

I'm really curious what next month's featured Community Day Pokémon will be. Following the regular pattern of a starter on odd months and a different Pokémon on even months, we could expect Snivy. However they are from gen 5, and that would mean we'd run out of starter Pokémon for September's Community Day unless they add gen 6 then. But it would likely be too early to have a gen 6 starter in the Community Day already if they'd release gen 6 around that time. So my guess is that they could do Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott over the next 3 odd months and then in September have votes for starter Pokémon like we had the choice to vote for this February's Community Day. What do you think?
