Hello beautiful people of Hive!

Today, I did something I've never expected myself to do where I can conquer one of my fears to do something I love. And yes, as what the title of this blog says, I've been from a chorale practice! 

I know I can sing but not that confident enough to let the whole department hear. This December, we have an upcoming activity where there has to be participants from different sections in every Class Years for Hip-hop and Chorale Contest. Slots were opened since two weeks ago, and from our class there wasn't much who have responded due to time conflicts from other school activities. I was also hesitant before, but not because of conflicts in my schedule. It is because of my capacity. I just don't think I could do it and contribute well to the blending without singing in a monotone since I've never had a proper practice for years. 

The last time I recall, I've only sung properly in my music subject and graduation in elementary, and my performance was also commendable.  Yet after that, singing has been gradually eradicated in my activities. Plus my low esteem, it became something I forced myself to forget until I could only hum  when I'm alone and sing in the shower.

I never where is this courage I have came from that I agreed to be listed in the participating students to join a chorale contest two days ago. Just this day, I've done my first practice as an official member of the choir.

Before it starts, we were asked of our vocal types. I wasn't sure if I can hit the notes of a mezzo-soprano, so I said I was an Alto Choir.  After that, we were grouped according to our vocal types and was asked to sing in our key tones. Just a few lines, I've totally regret it. I made the wrong decision to sing as an Alto Choir. I've struggled hitting low notes, as I was consistently going up. I'm disoriented with my voice and in a dilemma whether to practice low notes or switch to a midrange type.  I raised my concerns to our voice coach, and he told me that it's okay. I just have to do my best to reach my notes instead, and no need to switch.

We first tried singing **Silent Night** in our vocal types. Since I can't be a consistent Alto, alternatively,  I sing in a mezzo soprano voice, then just hit those low notes at the end of some lines if I can just to blend with the team and to cover it up. It not yet a rigid kind of training, but lenient and fast. The only objective for today's training is to classify our vocal types and familiarize the songs in our vocal types, so it would be easier to blend our voices. 

And it's a wrapped after more than two hours of practicing. We were instructed to memorize the lyrics of the songs for we have to sing a minimum of 15 minutes and that would 4 to 5 songs, depending on the duration of each song and how will we deliver the flow. I didn't I can do it, but turns out exactly different from what I've thought. I have enjoyed it, and excited to attend the next practice. 

I guess I've deserve an ice cream after doing my best. Just kidding, not now. I have to take care of my voice until the contest is over.
