Rattlesnakes are a group of venomous snake mura of the Crotalinae tribe.

 Characteristic of this snake is the tail which consists of segments that can cause a loud sound when vibrated.

Rattlesnake consists of two genera, namely Crotalus sp. and Sistrurus sp.
The scientific name is derived from the word Krotalon = the raptor for the genus Crotalus and Seistro-uros Seistro = "jingle" and uros = ekor for the genus Sistrurus.
