0.000 HBDEnergy is something I understand and I think I can comment intelligently. Our energy consumption and policy to do so and the research to drive it forward are all inadequate and arcane. The govt and policy makers of any country, whether right or left are both clueless about how the planet works and what need to be done in terms of energy efficiency. Heavy handed pro-green energy approach is bad. Heavy handed pro-hydrocarbon energy approach is bad. None delivers any sustainable result that can be used long term with minimal environmental impact. What is needed is a balanced approach of both. All forms of energy are needed, and their usage and use cases are different. You can't run a cargo ship on Solar. Similarly you don't need a coal-fire plant to power a house in the middle of nowhere Nevada, a roof-top solar panel will do that for you. However, all countries lean one way or the other, and it simply doesn't work. There is no reason to feel good about if you are using your rooftop solar, you are not doing the world any favor. Similarly just because US navy had many nuclear submarines, doesn't mean they are doing the world any favors either.
