I visited a school yesterday and as usual I took some pictures I wanted to add to my collection in my Album the scenery.

Then suddenly passed by a Balete tree and catch my attention. When you hear the word "Balete" tree the initial reaction is too move away from it and never ever came near to that tree…

https://steemitimages.com/DQmY7bquQeveNdTmqjkroa2Sh34vgHoDmPbKYztnQPyBizR/20180104_075424.jpg

Why?

Balete tree is believed to be the house or dwelling of the unseen, the supernatural being like tikbalang or kapre. For kids they would usually say maligno for them to move out and never play around balete trees. It is believe to be that when a child or someone goes near it and the supernatural beings living there will going to punish them for unworthy things a person have unintentionally did it to them maybe step upon then or have touched them or unknowingly hit them. When a person or child felt uneasy after going near to it, the folks will surely say “namasama yan” (the supernatural cause his sickness)

A penny for my thought… If that is true then it is so far proper for them to be the one who are cautious as not to go near a child playing or a person standing near the balete tree for a shed against sun or rain. Well for me they are supernatural…and we cannot see them either, if only we can see them I knew we will not surely going to hurt them…(what a mind we have hurting the supernatural, right)

https://steemitimages.com/DQmTzvWvFX11t29AXNZCwEGo25PtSRGf3dYzXNh8utrqo9k/20180104_075359.jpg

What is Balete tree?

It is believe to be a stringler figs that started in a tree. Slowly wrapping it then it will soon sorrounds the host tree and after sometime the host tree will eventually die. I have seen seen one in the house we rent in before. Someone said 10 years after that tree will die and a balete tree will eventually grow from it. Day by day I noticed that we figs eventually grew in numbers and sad to say I did not see its progress because we transfer to our own house. Some folks would always said to me before when my kids got sick…namamaligno sila..(supernatural being caused sickness to a child)…i don’t believe much but there’s no harm in listening to what they say…so just be cautious. Years ago I still saw that tree but unfortunately they have cut it.

THE OTHER SIDE OF BALETE TREE

One time I am watching the television in my favourite channel Abs-Cbn Kapamilya “Rated K” a program host by a reputable journalist Korina Sanchez. About a balete tree in Sitio Diriki, Barangay Davila, Pasquin Ilocos Norte. It became a wishing tree.. According to Jolly Manzano, a restaurant owner near the Balete tree It all started when a foreigner put some money in it because he believe that Balete tree can bring luck to anyone and from then on one would go there for a wish. When you see the tree today you will see a lot of money attached in it. And yeah let a person believe in what he chooses to believe as long it never hurt anyone...who knows it will really be a fortune for them.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmVzzEtWHX5jJiWYEByMpjyByXG5vStJxPzVDVQbSswqtC/balurl.jpg

Well I am happy that a new version of the tree came out. I have made this post for the public to be aware of it as not to let the Balete tree a ghost tale…well, I am not saying the folklore is wrong yet I am saying others believe the way. And when we look at it closely there are some point of it. Balete is also a creation and looking at it is very interesting. (that is for me as I love to capture pictures). So the next time you see a Balete Tree make a wish who knows it will be granted.

Back to my steemit journey I am happy doing steemit with the unending support of @surpassinggoogle and @beanz and so many other whales and friends around.
