On 24 January 2018, Bitcoin hard fork occurs again in block 505888. This hard fork has spawned Bitcoin Atom (BCA), increasing the number of digital currencies in the world. Bitcoin Atom is required in electronic payment systems based on cryptographic evidence and not trust. So as to enable the two parties are interconnected can directly transact with each other without the need for third parties.

Bitcoin Atom (BCA) is a Segwit that activates Bitcoin hard fork with an on-chain atom swap in hybrid consensus. Atomic Bitcoin enables the exchange of decentralized digital assets by utilizing a time-locked hash (HTLC) contract and its own HTLC API. This system has its own advantages by providing freedom from intermediaries and centralized entities.

The BCA network is also secured by utilizing a hybrid consensus called PoW and PoS models. This system is claimed to increase network stability and reduce power consumption of miners, thus lowering hacker attacks 51 percent. The Atom Bitcoin development team is working on the implementation of LN, enabling instantaneous exchange of goods, off-chain atomic swaps. LN deals are cheaper, more useful for smaller transactions and better privacy.
