Going to start a new painting... Tropical Waters Oil Painting [Part 1]
I decided to pick a photo I took while on Vacation. We were vacationing in Negril Jamaica back in 2011 (seems like just the other day ;-] ). The sunsets are absolutely gorgeous in Negril. Negril sits on the west side of the island, so the sunsets are out of this world. There wasn't many nights that we were not at the beach watching the sun melt into the warm ocean horizon. Very inspiring then and still inspiring now. Lets see where this goes, shall we...

I started by cutting my piece of Masonite to size, for this one 12" X 24". I always prep the board with Gesso. I prefer Liquitex Clear Gesso. Its a bit gritty, but I like that. Bad on the brushes though.

Then I like to lay a thin layer of white oil paint down to help me get an idea of where the horizon and clouds will be..

More to come as I develop this one. Thanks for looking!!!
