Warm greetings everyone!

I was walking back home from a seminar when a phone notification came on my phone. I brought out my phone to check the message absent mindedly since I felt it was a push notification from my service provider.

Alas! How wrong I was!. The message was from an acquaintance of mine who recently relocated to my neighbourhood. The text read..


> *I'm tired of living, tired of the pains, the struggles and the reproach that I have to endure. I can't go on like this, I give up*.


Immediately, I began to panic, thinking she was in danger. I changed my route and walked to her house in haste. I arrived within five minutes and barged in, all caution thrown to the wind. I saw her lying down on the bed crying.

*"What happened to you and why are you crying?"* I probed her. Knowing that I do not entertain suspense, she opened up about her plight and how she could not take it anymore.

The thing is although she is currently working, she feels she has not been able to meet up with the expectations if family, friends and society.

She also went on to explain how she is afraid of facing her family only to dash their hopes  placed on her.

After carefully listening to her, I began the work of a counsellor. I made her understand that she can weather the storm only when she decides to *man her oars*. 

> Decision starts with determination and determination begins with a choice... a choice to get up and fight against culture status quo and limiting beliefs.

Diverse thoughts ran through my mind as I walked back home after lifting the mood of this lady and leaving her safely at her home.


Although this incident is almost three weeks old, I still can't shake the feeling of helplessness that I perceived from her. I am not immune to whatever she is going through. I have had my fair share of *"valley moments"* in my life but one thing kept me going and that was the fact that *"I will not give up till I reach the finish line"* or as it is fondly called *destiny*.

I was reminded of this song and when I listened to it again, I could feel the fire to keep moving burn afresh in me. *I will not give up on me*.

The song above was released in 2015 but till date it's message is still profound even after eight years.
